To keep or sell?
If I am understanding the scenario correctly, you travel a lot to school.
Why not try to sell the Evo in a private trade, and buy a beater. Since you own the car outright buy minumum insurance and just try to sell it privately. Once your out of school just buy a new one.

Why the hell would someone buy a brand new car just to drive the **** out of it?
The problem you have is that your commute is too far. You need to move or make an arrangement. 110 miles a day? jesus....2 hours (at least) every day sitting in a car, wasting money on gas, polluting the air.....unacceptable, IMHO.

Dude, it its paid off, just deal with it. You will lose your tail on trade. It might not get great fuel ecomomy, but in 3 years, it will be worth a ton more than that VW, which will depreciate like mad. Evos hold their value reasonably well. The bulk of the depreciation has already hit, you need to keep your car or you will regret it. Trust me, I have loads of regrets.
You sold your X noize? On top of that i've always been meaning to ask. What from UR do you have on your car? I like their products, so i was just curious since your sig says tuned by UR. Any help would be appreciated

my 2 cents
Buy an old BMW 1986-1994
i picked one up for 300 bucks its a 1988 528i it has 200plus K
that was a great deal but im sure you can find one for around a grand.
Super fun cars and runs forever. sure it will have its quirks but it will keep the miles down.
just a thought.
Civic would be great two.

+1 for a reliable beater.
That trade value is not that good, and any Volkswagen (even an R20 Golf not seen on these shores) would be a catastrophic downgrade for any performance car enthusiast.
I looked into something similar, and although I would love to sell my car for financial reasons, it just doesn't make any sense on paper, particularly since it is 0% money.
VWs have electronic gremlins, and the 2010s have all kinds of mechanical maladies too, including rear washer sprayers that continually drip, door sills that don't line up, it goes on and on. Do yourself a favor and run from das auto. Keep your Evo and get a reliable $5k beater, hunker down and pay them both off.

I can attest to the VW losing value like crazy. I bought a brand new 2003 VW 1.8T Jetta and tried to sell it in late 2007 with 50k miles...the price I was quoted from CarMax (not a great place to sell a car) and they quoted me $3500. I think KBB had it for like $5000 trade-in, btw I paid $20,800 OTD.
Issues with the car included blown fuses, replaced clutch at 30k, diverter valve @ 1k (crappy design), and rattling like no other (MUCH worse than the EVO). VWs are not known for their reliability, I've had many friends who owned various VWs and ran into a ton of issues. All of them (myself included), will never buy another VW.
If you got a DD civic it wouldn't cost jack to insure
Just get basic coverage
you would save alot of money on gas
it would be super cheap to work on
I have a Evo for my fun car and a 01 4dr integra Gsr for my daily I pay 100 a month for full coverage on the Gsr and I get about 32mpgs

Isn't that what an EVO is for? Getting attention from girls in school?
Get a beater for work. I would suggest to go with a Corolla or a Civic. I know someone who puts 350k on his 89 Corolla and the car is still alive!!!
