There's a sticky here on evoM with all the maintenance things to do. In the rear of the Evo X, you NEED to change two sets of fluid, the mechanical diff (diaqueen LSD) and the torque transfer mechanism (ATF). Both of mine had metal dust on the magnetic drain plugs, indicating that over time, there would be more. And more metal is bad for gears and things.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...fications.html). Item #14.

The maintenance for the third fluid in the rear, "AYC" is to simply check the level of the fluid. I'm pretty sure that its not asking to change it out like you would brake fluid because it's both a totally sealed (and small) closed system, and there is no heat buildup and hydro fluid break down like brake fluid sees being so attached to hot brake pads.

If you are like me and don't have anywhere to do the work, I suggest going to a local shop to do the services for like 1/2 the price from the dealership.

I am part of a local evo forum in the DC area and we have local sponsors that take good care of ours cars for very good prices.

I've had an EVO since Mar 04' and have never been back to the dealership except for warranty work.

I'll pass and do it myself when the time comes. As a matter of fact they called about my 15k service and I promptly told them no thanks.

Nope. UICP is a factory sourced upgrade. Unless they found a problem with how you intalled the boost gauge, they'd be fine with the mods.

This is actually incorrect.

The factory sourced upgrade is only a colored version of the stock pipe. A full hardened pipe increases boost pressure (by the rubber not expanding) and does cause an increase in power.

I was told the rule of thumb was, anything in front of the MAF and behind the CAT is OK by

They might bug you about the hard pipe, or they will right it down and when something does happen they will bring it up and make it an issue if anything goes wrong. It happened to me when i put a AEM boost gauge that can alter the boost of the car. But u can change the fluid your self, its much cheaper and you feel better about it too.

NS? I stand corrected! It looked hardened to me, but the dealer pictures are all I've seen. Real products are few and far between 'round these parts.

Who'd have thunk you could make flexible UICP appear with a sheen?

did all the fluid changes myself. Got the Mits LSD oil for the rear and the transfer case. Threw some redline mt90 in the trans. this is really a DIY project and there is no need to pay the dealer to do this. Just make sure you get a pump of some sort, as the fill holes on the diff and tcase are hard to get to.

Is it really necessary to change plugs at 30k? i still have my stockers in and plan to get tuned soon. Also, it was recommended to get the belt changed as well. Has anyone done this?

For the plugs, service says 60months or 60,000 miles.

Interestinly, the belt it says do at 30/30

I've not done my belt. I'll let it fail on me, its the external one
