I would've cried too but the important part is that you and your friend are ok. Hope the insurance covers the loss and your back in a X in no time.

Sorry to hear. But quick question I also did not know the battery was in the trunk does that mean everything from the firewall is ok?

everything on the other side of the firewall is ok. the car will be auctioned off now that the insurance has the title to the car

Wow. Glad you guys are OK and everything worked out for you with insurance. I read thru the whole thread but might have missed it, did they ever find out if it was the battery that caused the fire or something else. Good luck in your search for an 8 or 9

That's a really good tip. But if you have a newborn like me and in a car seat, I doubt there would be sufficient time to find a spot to safely pull over, remove the child and conceal the flame. Heck, if my kid tells me the car is on fire, I'd probably just shrug it off and hustle to wherever I am going.

This is a serious risk and very concerning safety issue. I don't have an Evo X yet, but this could be a real deal breaker for me. There will be absolutely no consideration to put my childeren in risk at the favor of personal satisfaction(enjoyment); Even if the stats are 1:1,000,000 chance of another EVO X catching fire. If I have to look elsewhere for a mid 30-40k car, then so be it.

In for updates and insurance findings as well.

To the OP, glad you made it out safely.

If it's the same evo, it was a leak in the fuel tank that cause the fire.
