cause on an x you have to drill three big *** holes in the bumber.n i was thinking of mounting a hinge to the black plastic center bar in the bumper and mounting it to that so the air would blow it back a little when driving and when i stop it will hang normal.

I bought a black licence plate holder from autozone and used 4 set of 2 zip ties and zip tied the plate holder between the bumper cover.
Here's a picture of it on my car.

I bought some brackets from home depot so that I could hook my plate on rather than drill holes. Much better look if one must install a front plate. No screwin around in cali without a front plate, its a "gate way" ticket that could lead to getting your hood popped, which leads to a smog ticket/illegal mods, which leads to a future of total hell and stress for the owner, for the next couple months. You cant give cops a reason as stupid as not having a front plate to pull you over. Its just not worth it.

I can get you some pics of my setup if you want.....but i got it from this place
http://skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.shtml
Its a guy who made it for his M3......you drill two small holes but on the underside, so they won't be visible if you ever take it off.
I ended up putting my off the driver's side. So it gets the stock location but with two holes underneath

I can handle more than one, but probably not 10 before I'd act. One every year or two, no sweat, it's always something I can add easily, just can't "remove" a hole once that's done.

FYI: i would recommend spraying it black or getting it powdercoated....i know its a cheap part, but in less than a year it will rust like crazy. yeah, you can always buy a new one for $10, but it just starts looking ugly quick.

$35 is really cheap. I got one a few years ago, and it cost me $125 where in live Maine. This state sucks with everything when it comes to cars: unless your a redneck racer in a lifted truck with dual stacks coming out the bed, then you can do whatever you want to your vehicle.

Yea, the skene design is really just an adjustable aluminum L-bracket
Here it is after my install
It comes with the brackets, drill bit, small rubber pads( i didn't use them though), and allen wrench for the screws.
Though it isn't perfect. It may rub on the bumper, I'm not entirely sure for others. I ended up using Gorilla Tape on the back of the bracket to cushion and prevent some abrasion. But in my case, I have a clearshield(bra) so at worst it would just rub that, which I'm not worried about.
I have since re-tapped the back for a cleaner look and better seal. Only thing i will add is some locking nuts on the inside of the bumper cause not sure how much the screws are actually holding.
