I've been getting them more lately as well, used to be once every 2 years but after putting sponsor vinyls on the car it's been 2 tickets in the last 4 months now. For regular daily driving I'm likely going to fab up a couple of aluminum brackets that connect to the front bumper cover right below the center black vents that lead to the FMIC. I figure the minor air it blocks there won't matter, and then I'll make it so that it can somewhat easily removed for when I'm racing to allow maximum airflow. That will keep it centered on the front bumper cover and it should look decent. I loathe the side mounted plate location and drilling into the paint is not going to happen.

I zip tied mine to the mesh. kept it on the factory mounting plate. on the drivers side below the bumber a little. looked like crap but worked. I just recently move to KS. they do not require front plate. WOOT! I took it off but not have a scuff mark where it rubbed.

Thanks for the advice, that adjustable bracket seems good enough. Is it easy to attach/remove?

Also, is the penalty for no front plate a fine or just a fix-it ticket? I've been lucky enough to avoid one for the past few months but don't want my luck to run out!

Got one too recently in San Gabriel. Cop pulled me over just for that. I ended up getting the dealer to install it for free. I dont' like the way it looks, but I think if you have to have a front license plate, it by far the best looking. I don't like the ghetto rig look.
