No idea what it does, or why you'd want one.. but if you google the following, it brings up a bunch of results. Hopefully one of them has your answer..

it is a replacement for the stock boost solenoid.

you'll want one if you're planning on running above 24-25psi.

The GM one is discontinued/getting harder to find, but DIYautotune has a nice equivalent piece for a good price: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/e...kit-p-285.html

Yes you want one. I am running a GM 3 Port. What this Boost Controller does aside from a manual Boost controller is it allows your ecu to control the boost. A manual Boost controller bypasses the ECU and allows you to control boost based on vacuum. I have no issues with my 3 port, and absolutely love it. Of course when it is installed you need to install it when you tune, other wise you will have uncontrollable boost.

Having an MR with the SST does that make a difference? I heard tuning is different/harder with these cars.

i think its a little different because you have to deal w/ how boost is held when changing gears

I use the GM. EFI tuner (Chris) said it was a must to get the right boost control for the race car.
