Hey guys I'm going in to get my free first service at the dealer later this week, I was wondering if you recommend getting the transmission fluid changed out too? Should I do anything else while I'm there besides the basics?

 

Just do it yourself, its a cakewalk and will save you a ton of green.

 

i guess i should ask a 2nd question: is it a good idea to do at 5k? i imagine the tran is new and there's going to be a lot of metal shavings to flush out.

 

Yes, but only to remove the stock garbage. If you plan to keep running OEM tranny fluid then wait until 15-20k.

 

5k seems a bit early, IMO. follow the service schedule.
