Spots on/behind gauge cluster plastic

Idk what the hell it is but it's really pissing me off. I washed the car and cleaned the interior on Monday. There were no spots there until today. I get out of work and hop in my car and I notice several little spots riddling the center display and tachometer. I don't see how any meg's supreme protectant could have got behind there. I know the plastics are really sensitive to scratching so I used a brand new microfiber with no windex or anything in that particular area. What's even more peculiar is the spots seem to be BEHIND the plastic that covers the gauge cluster. Idk what I did but it looks friggin' awful. I must have sat there for 10 minutes trying to get it off with my finger. Idk if it's overspray from the meg's scoring the plastic or if it's really on the back of the plastic???

Any ideas? Was thinking about taking the plastic off to somehow clean the backside of it.

It shouldn't be too hard to remove. I think that the bezel for the gauge cluster pulls out toward the driver.
Then, there should be a couple screws retaining the entire cluster. With the cluster out and unplugged, I think that the clear lens will easily unscrew after that.
