2010 Brand new EvoX rattling inside

Good morning everybody,

As for whats wrong, right now I am stationed overseas with my brother driving my car in the meantime. I bought it right before I left and right now has about 1000 miles on it.

My brother is telling me that while driving it that the interior is rattling! 1st off, when he took it to the dealership it was only some bolts in the doors. Now he says underneath the glovebox is rattling as well. So, mitsubishi fixed the bolts in the door, but it still rattles as well as the glove box. He told mitsubishi and they said a service manager would call about the issue. However, a week went by and no phone call so he called up mitsu corp and is expected to be contacted by them as well.

What I am looking for is a solution, do you think they will fix the problem? Has anybody had this problem as well, and what was done to get it fixed? it really sucks to have a car waiting at home thats brand new and hearing that it has been having problems =(

any input would be greatly appreciated.

Very common. Keep taking it back until they fix it.

Take it back in. Some come out to be defects..I swear!!! If anything..just bump music and just drive..sometimes it gets too saddening hearing the rattles but the handling puts a smile back on

that does suck mine rattles too in some places ,its under warranty but i personally dont really care to **** off my dealer to find rattles, cause when the time comes for some major work i'd rather have a real issue than a minor annoyance.

haha what the guy said bump some music and just drive

See, i would love to do that. But you know, i buy a new car because you would infact not have to run into these problems. Especially if the sticker price is around 37k. I was in the car before when one door was rattling, now it seems to be all doors since they worked on it.
I was tell the bro to keep sending the car back until its fixed, i just had a little more faith in mitsubishi, you know?

It's an Evo, it will rattle itself apart. I figured the rattles were the reason they come with a pretty nice stock sound system,

pretty shetty if you have to fix all those rattles yourself. i would hope that with a brand new car, you wouldn't have such problems.

The Evo rattles, that is just the way it is. I know it doesn't equate in most people's minds that a car this expensive will rattle, but that isn't really where the money was invested in this particular piece of engineering.

I hate to say it but honestly I would rather fix stuff myself. Most dealerships make me cringe just replacing the gas cap on a car.
The truth is, if it's not a TSB or in the service manual odds are you are going to end up with a fairly half assed fix.

EVO interior rattles are no secret. I knew this car was going to be a rattle trap before I bought it. Fortunately I have been lucky and nothing yet.

You can take one look at the interior of the car, then go drive it and, can immediately tell where the money you paid went. ("startsmartasscomment" Hint: Not the interior "endsmartasscomment")

Enjoy it for what it is. Enjoy it for what it was designed to do.

It's a car based on an entry level economy car which comes with the same entry level dashboard with the chassis ultra-firmed (there is no give in the chassis at all) up over 30% more than the Evo IX and firm stock suspension that would be aftermarket performance on most cars. Not sure if even the best luxury interior would be able to withstand the constant beating rattle-free unless you added a lot of heavy sound deadening materials.

I wish they could make the dash out of fewer parts to lessen the chances of plastic rubbing but if you are looking for a quiet, rattle free interior these cars aren't for you.

Without a doubt, you should have your brother take it in, time after time after time.

1) It's under warranty, and you did drop a pretty nice dime on it
2) It's a Mitsu and an Evo. The other replies are fair, the car develops rattles. It's not a Mercedes when it comes to the interior.
3) The WORST legacy places are the glovebox and rear deck lid (if you have the SSS package).
4) It's not YOU who's missing out driving it; it's your brother but its your car. Let the time you're away from it be an opportunity for you to have the quietest Evo X around. The dealer will spend tons on this and they'll hate your brother not you!

Best of luck, remember you bought it for things other than a quiet interior.
