EVO X MR Touring VS BMW 335i
I don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but it's a good article from Edmunds Inside Line:

Interesting article. I can't overstate enough how much better the feedback is on the Evo compared to the 335i. The BMW feels heavier but less planted to the road. The only thing I found strange in the article is the following...
What's wrong with the NAV in the Evo? I think it's great! The overall interior of the BMW is better - somewhat Spartan like all BMW interiors but definitely superior in fit and finish...but I completely disagree that the Evo's OEM navigation is a "joke by modern standards".
...the Evo isn't on par with the BMW when it comes to the design and quality of the interior. Its navigation system is a joke by modern standards...
It's more of the same thing every article does. I want to see an article that runs an Evo X with a professional tune against a competing car. The closest one I've seen is the edmunds modded street evo x vs the gt-r. Great article btw.

Probably another true statement about that magazine... The nav system in the Lancer is great. Nothing wrong with it. So dont worry about it.
So Here is the J.D Power conclusion about the lancer nav sys.:
"The official name of the award is "Highest Customer Satisfaction with Factory Installed Navigation Systems."
They are not so JDM friendly though... But the BMW 3 series scored the 30th place in that review and the Lancer be came a first, in 2008. I dont know what changed that much since then though, but here it is the 2008 results:

http://businesscenter.jdpower.com/ne...spx?ID=2008237
"Recently, J.D. Power and Associates conducted a study on navigation systems. They asked people about things like the system appearance, ease of use, system routing, voice directions, navigation display screen and speed of system. The study wasn't limited to any single type of navigation system; on the contrary, it included a variety of systems with varying price ranges and categories.
Which vehicle's navigation system came out on top? The Mitsubishi Lancer.
The official name of the award is "Highest Customer Satisfaction with Factory Installed Navigation Systems." Quite a mouthful, but really, what it says is simple: out of every navigation system included in the study, drivers were more satisfied with Lancer's navigation system than those in other vehicles.
For drivers who already own a Lancer with a nav system, this prestigious honor should come as no surprise. With a 7-inch, crystal-clear LCD touch screen, it is exceedingly user-friendly. With features not yet available anywhere else—like an industry-first Diamond Lane Guidance system which uses carpool/HOV lanes to map out the fastest route—it's not just ahead of the technology curve. It's setting it.
And how many other nav systems have an ultra-fast 40GB hard drives that makes it even faster and more responsive? Or an integrated music server that can store up to 2,000 songs? Not many.
These features can't be found in other navigation systems, let alone one priced like Lancer. Yet another reason that Lancer is different than anything else on the road*."

Good find! I knew I wasn't popping crazy pills. The NAV in my wife's FX35 isn't nearly as intuitive or easy as the Mitsubishi's setup. Plus lots of other NAV systems require you to be parked to input directions. I love how the Mitsu setup allows you to do it on the fly.

as true as that article may be, i wonder out of how many people this was based on? and the MMCS's direction routing is borderline retarded. maybe my nav needs an update or something, but it would take me through the most difficult routes, no matter if i select whichever mode for the direction routing. one time it also took me to the freakin beach when my destination is at downtown, even though the address was correct. i was pissed.
So i dont know, i know one thing my wife work car was an 2007 Mercedes 350 CLK, and that NAV was light years behind the Lancer 40gig. Shame but true.
bmw interiors are WAYYY nicer. you can't have nearly as much fun with a bmw though since you can't mod it even close to the way you can any japanese or even an american car. if you buy that car basically all you can do is wheels, tint and basic things like exhaust. lots of cars like that hvae engine control things going through the factory stereo so you can't even change that out if you want. i could have bought a 335i but i chose an evo X MR for how much more fun i would have with it... plus the rarety in my neck of the woods makes me stand out from a ton of other cars
i have a evo 8 and my frind has a 335i. hes has basic mods like custom exhaust tune bov and icp. i have basicly the same. power wise i take him at launch but in the long run his car take the cake. i sat in his car during launch and it moves. when i drove it, its a different experience. i like the feel of the rwd pushing you into your seat.
those n54 are beasts with the jb3 piggy back controller. I miss my 135i sometimes, but the wastegate rattle problems on those cars makes me happy I have the evo. The way the waste actuator arm was designed its all one piece with the turbo housing so when the arm wears out the metal bushing it slides through and begins to rattle bmw will either do a software update to bandaid the waste being loose and leaky or the rare chance they change out both turbos.
My car had about 35k miles on it 2008 model and after dealing with all the check engine lights in warranty I sold that car asap with fear that I would be out of luck after warranty.
The evo is also expensive to maintain, but at least working on it should be easier, plus it shares basic components with the regular lancer so parts are easier to find and cheaper IF you have some type of failure
