Well, I did two pulls when I test drove it but I drove off from dealer never got on it and has been babying it. I am mostly driving in the city so I do change gears a lot.

when I broke mine in, I did the variable and semi hard driving break in method. With my previous car and many of my friends doing this method, the engine seals actually "seal" wheres pampering method may not fully do it. Whatever you do, don't do long highways at a constant RPM and speed. That's the worst break in method when compared to hard or pampered ways.

Enjoy the car! Another MR joins the family~ You can now shift faster than any human can shift! If you want more power, SSP is your friend

Congrats. I also had an 06 STi. Traded it for an 08 Altima Coupe. Missed the boost so now Im also in an MR. You will find this car real enjoyable compared to the STi and a lot less expensive to mod as well.

Congratulations!

I also crossed over. I owned an 03 WRX that was a very solid little car capable of 143mph. Its still going strong with its second owner.

I have an 08 GSR and havent looked back. The car almost seemed slower at first as the pull is more "linear" than the rubberband turbo lag of the WRX.

I bought my WRX in California, and had it maintaned by South Coast Subaru. I contacted South Coast about Evo break-in and their maintenance supervisor told me that the engines are broken in at the factory.

A major Mitsu dealer where I love now told me the same thing.

So I just did variable driving on mine with the factory oil, didnt baby it, and changed to Amsoil pure synth as soon as the recommended break-in period was finished.

No problems with 46,000 miles on it so far.

Best of luck I know youll enjoy the car-

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and wishes.

I am trying to do mostly city driving to break it in with variable RPMs but sometimes I have to go on highway with constant RPM

Here are some pics of her: She is going to get detailed by dealer hopefully Friday...

It defiantly is slower than my STi but since she is stock I am cutting some slack

Oh yeah engine oil; what does everybody uses? I was using Royal Purple on the STi and was very happy with it. I am thinking using the same oil.

And how often every 5k or 3k? Manual says every 5k.

Be very careful which oil you use these days.

Due to legal definitions etc "Fully Syntethic" oil is actually a blend of synth and highly refined organic. In their defense so called fully synthetic oils can actually be about 90% as good as most true synthetics. But none the less, they are not 100% synthetic oil and have pulled the wool over uninformed consumers eyes ie Mobile1, Castrol, Valvoline etc etc.

Amsoil is a fully 100% synthetic oil and is Olefin based.

Redline is another fully 100% syntethic oil and is ester based.

Very few oils are true PAO synthetic base stock anymore so be careful about advertising, labels and uninformed friends.

If I recall correctly two of the advantages of pure synth oil is its uniform molecule size, and smaller molecule size. It wears and shears much more evenly and consistantly than organic oil, and can penetrate much deepr into parts. I think Ive heard that it can withstand the contamination of direct injection better than organic oils as well.

Mobile 1 filters can filter all the way down to 8 microns and can do so at high volumes (unlike purolator which CAN filter down to 8 microns but flows much slower and starving your turbo).

I run Amsoil and Mobile 1 filters. Am considering swtching to Redline.

If you havent already, I would read BITOG = Bob is the oil guy forums. There is a wealth of information there.

I wouldnt mind using Amsoil but I dont have it locally so need to order online...It is kinda pita.

Why are you thinking to switch to redline? Because it is hard to find Amsoil?

Calm down Tansu. I'll give you the hook-up when you come by on Saturday. I did not know that the X MR came with 2-piece Front rotors. That's nice. Congrats on the car bud and prepare yourself for a world of insults. I'll never forget how you guys treated me when I traded in my STI for my IX. Payback with interest on the way.

Well even on the highway you can go at constant speed, but play around with the gears so that you won't be at constant RPM. You only need to do it for a few tanks of gas and then back to regular style of driving after she's broken in!

SSP is the only company todate that has built clutch packs for the SST transmission along with other cooling options. I think 500whp is the current high for the MR.

Haha, well I had my reasons to trade mine in not because I want to make boat load of power but it is cool I am ready for insults, bring it on.

Yeah it does come with 2-piece front rotors which is awesome!

Oh gotcha, I will check them out but it sounds like it will cost arm and leg to upgrade to SST.

I will keep playing with gears when I am on the highway than.
