Hey guys I need help badly

Just got word of those new map updates from cobb. Tried to reflash the car with a version 1.7 map.

What happened was the AP unit shut off in the middle of reflashing, which I think is because of a faulty usb cable/dongle.

Now my car won't start!!!! I'm freaking out because I need to get to places today and this is my only car.

My accessport won't recognize my evo x as a supported vehicle now.

I tried updating the AP firmware, in hopes that maybe this type of issue was included, but to no avail.

I called COBB, but since its the weekend no one is answering.

Can anyone please help me out ?! Anyone with a similar experience???

What he said. You'll need to get in touch with COBB when they open again, but chances are, you will need to pull the ECU out and then send it to them to be reset. Stopping in a middle of a flash will brick the ECU unfortunately Did you bump the cable while it was flashing?

If it is bricked, do you guys know how much that would cost me?

I've also been hearing that the usb cable that comes with it have been faulty in the past.

My usb cable looks like the "flexi" part of it is loose. But I never bumped it, it just shut off and rebooted. It seems like it's the wire connection on the mini usb end that isn't holding up.

It was always flimsy feeling since the day I got it, but it always worked fine.

Does anyone know of a normal turn-around time for something like this? I have a feeling I'm going to have a hefty rental car bill...

This happened to me. Reconnect the AP. It has a safety feature which will start to unmarry the AP because the reflash went bad. It will unmarry it and then just flash it like normal. Your good. It just takes a little while. Be patient.

@ugakirk

I would have had this resolved if it were so simple... My AP doesn't recognize my car as a supported vehicle anymore. The Uninstall/unmarry function doesn't work unfortunately.

I've been hearing from many people that I have to take out my ECU and mail it to COBB to have it reset... possibly buy a new usb cable/dongle

I've never used EvoScan before. Even though I used an accessport to reflash, I can get still use EvoScan to get working again?

I really appreciate the help guys

Hmm. That's strange. Maybe your cable is just really screwed. The AP should still recognize the car i would think. This just happened to me last week. I eventually put the AP on the floorboard and kept connecting it to the OBD until it connected and didn't touch it again. That's sucks if you have to send.it to Cobb.

@ugakirk,

I very much appreciate your input. I needed all the help I could get before this morning.

My ECU is officially bricked and I'm sending out my ECU to Cobb along with my AP.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I really do appreciate the feedback!

$120 for service & shipping costs isn't all that bad for expedited shipping.

Big thank you to cobb for the fantastic customer support!
