Not sure if the 11 STI uses the same engine as 04, but I purchased a brand new Java black 04 STI and babied the break-in engine process. It was burning a quart every 1k. Early signs around 11k. Finally after 40k miles. Sold the car.

Haven't had any oil issues with the EVO X. 18k miles strong!

I would drive the X around for a little while first. It is different than the 8's and 9's. That being said I traded my 8 in and love the X. If you make the switch you will be very pleased.

Don't throw good money after bad and mod it like some people are saying. It isn't going to make you like it, plus you risk blowing it up and/or voiding the warranty and depreciating it even faster. Put it up for sale and or just save the money you will lose on trade in and get what you want.

Or just man up and live with your decision for a couple of years until the car's value starts to plateau.

dude, did all that trade in and losing money not ones but six times. it's wrong but you want to do it because you want to feel good. it will feel good for a while then you will find something else in fault again. if you can afford to do it and I mean really afford it. like you have millions in savings then go for it. If not, save it, enjoy it, track it, when you break even then go get something else. have you even track the car? Go do that, this is where the car shines. at the end of the day you're buying metal plastic rubber that rolls for a he'll lot of money. KEEP IT!

I'll probably sound like your dad...

Keep the STI and live with your decision.

Open a Roth IRA at Fidelity and put away $50 or more each month into a low cost index fund.

When you see a Evo or any desirable car, smile and feel sorry for the guy because he's got a ton of debt and you have money in the bank.

Good luck! If you go to South Coast Mitsubishi (or at least one of the other three dealerships that is under the same ownership), I think they have a special on Evos until the end of October (and I've never seen their prices for the Evo Xs this low). Here's a link:

http://www.socalevo.net/index.php?op...topic=103080.0

And if you're too lazy:

GSR - $28,699 (down from $34,310 MSRP)
GSR SSS - $30,599 (down from 36,510 MSRP)
MR - $33,699 (down from $39,710 MSRP)
MR Touring - $35,499 (down from $41,735 MSRP)

At the bottom of the link, it talks about the price including some $1,000 Mitsubishi rebate, though I'm not sure what it is or what you're supposed to have to be eligible for it. Either way, it's still a good price. Earlier in the month, the prices were nearly $2,000 higher for them.

I'd say keep Sti and mod it
Stealership will never give you a good value.

Dont trade it in, you will screw yourself over. Sell it, then go by an X. You should have test driven both vehicles before deciding which vehicle to buy. Good luck man.

Thats a really beautiful car I was thinking about trading my x in for one but then I quickly snapped out of it. I think they really did a good job on the exterior dont know how it rides.

I would just mod it like everybody else said. Theres tons of aftermarket support theres no reason why you cant mod it to your liking.Or if you can afford to have a beater daily driver and garage the sti wait until you get the total amount owed down alittle and then trade it in.
