No, but you'll want a tune to take advantage of the full benefit.

I'll probably go FMIC/UICP and leave the stock LICP alone, what you guys think?

Might as well wait a little longer, and get DP, FMIC, UIP, and Tune. If you get the AMS O2 Widemouth you will need a Wide band or waste $20 to plug up the empty spot.

It's really all up to you, FMIC and UICP will be fine because you won't need a retune. Obviously a tune would be good to optimize performance gains, but you can wait for the retune until you get a DP. Leaving the stock LICP is fine. I just changed mine out for the hell of it really because I got a sweet deal on it.

I have a 3.5in FMIC from ETS that is still in the box, one of my buddies bought it and didn't install it because he sold the car. PM me and I'll let it go for a hell of a deal!

You will get more gains from the FMIC

The only people saying down pipe are the ones without a FMIC.....that should be a clue

I say go with the FMIC you will get more out of it than you would with the DP. You will get more out of the DP when you get a bigger turbo or do more upgrades. Get the basic bolt-ons and a tune and you will not be disappointed.

gains??? with a bigger turbo you would be able to run everything more efficiently, but the fmic is no power adder. get a dp and tune. if you want to get something for the intercooler system, get piping.

Im pretty sure ETS shows over a 10whp gain without tuning by adding a 4" fmic....

FMIC and UICP will make some nice gains. Both items will last you the duration of your build also.

The downfall with the O2/DP is the installation. Even the best mechanic will tell you the first removal is a pain in the butt.

I agree with your advise. The Front Mount and UICP and LICP makes a huge difference. The downpipe is a secondary venture down the road. Keep it cool first.

So close.

None of the options noted in this thread, other than a larger turbocharger, are actually power adders. These are all just methods to regain lost efficiency. There's a gain there, but it's really just freeing up power that is lost to inefficiencies in the current design:

1) Aftermarket FMIC is bigger, more efficient than stock. More effective at cooling. No power added, just restored from being lost
2) UICP: replaces soft hose which can expand under boost, causing loss in pressure. No power added, just restored
3) DP: increases volumetric area for exhaust gases to escape. Likely improves flow, increasing engine efficiency (see a trend?)

A power adder is going to be a turbo/supercharger, nitrous, and... actually, that's about it.

In the long run anything you can do to increase efficiency is going to be a good thing; if you already had the exhaust I'd say go with the DP so your mods have a synergistic effect - they'd work together, as your weakest point in the exhaust is whichever is restricting flow most (you don't want any backpressure here).

As it stands, get the FMIC/UICP and a tune.
