Go with the front mount, no need for a tune. The front mount will actually provide more gains then the down pipe on the stock turbocharger.

Check out this link for our dyno results with no tuning and just bolt on parts.

It's a good read

Thanks for the info guys! I will be piecing my I/C setup starting off with the Cobb uicp/hardpipe (found a used set for a decent price). Anyone know anything about the Cobb UICP? I know they are currently remaking it, but have no clue why..

This is a mistake that many people make.... some of the wide mouth DPs are in fact worse for flow as they cause a turbulent condition.

The rally teams have a more scientific approach. See attached.

you will have to excuse the lack of technical language......

It's a good part. They redesigned their LICP to fit both the GSR and MR. The UICP stayed the same, but they did have supply issues with their bender and coater for a bit, but that should all be sorted out now.

Just installed the pipe this weekend but its the older version and i like it. I like the gunmetal color with the blue couplers.. plus the hardpipe/uicp look good together.

BTW, anyone know Cobbs email? Tried calling them so i can find out if i can purchase a rubber coupler, my dog chewed up one for the UICP and the stock ones slightly small.

+1 for the fmic, if you can just go with a true tbe, no fit issues and alot of big named companies do alot of research and have good dyno results that you can use to guestimate your overall horsepower if you don't have access to a dyno.

Look in the part out section if money is an issue

Eventually you will need both, as FMIC does make a difference and will improve performance down the road but at the moment I would suggest you go with a DP first

i would get a O2 housing with a downpipe or a combo, since it is not as easy set up as the 4G63T was , why you pay double amount of money for install? If you dont get a combo , i got a Megan O2 housing for cheap around $160 as an option for you. So its a worthy update on your idea to think about the combo or an extra parts which would be costly later to install.
