Should I sell my X?

I've had my X MR for about a year now and I absolutely love it. The problem is I am moving to florida and was getting worried about sst overheating in florida's weather. I've heard from my dealer that MR can be overheated if driven spiritedly in hot weather. Is that true, or the dealer is just bs ing? Only mods on the the car are tune and a panel filter and future mods will include an intake, catback and new pipings.

Dude, no worries you'll be fine. No reason to sell the X.

Geez, you are over exagerating a bit on our sst.. Those gsr guys up top feel the same way. What kind of spirited driving are you going to do? Redline thtough each gear 10hrs straight? With your current mods, your car will be fine Keep the car and relax.

The SST can over heat if you have it in super-sport and are running track sessions. But just driving on the street??? No... don't worry about it! Definitely don't sell your car!!!

Don't sell! I don't think Mitsu would make and sell MR's with easy overheating SST's. Its just can't be an issue. Like previously said, you got to track your car (other word abuse it) before it over heats.

100% keeper

if thats not convincing !!! get a little fan and hook it up so it constantly blowing air through it. Others did.

Good luck.

There are SST transmission oil cooler kits out on the market. AMS makes one and I believe others too. I don't believe Mitsu would make a car that can't perform in warm to hot weather. I believe Evo is their money maker and it's probably in their best interest to lose money on recalls and or lawsuits. I put it like this. In NJ at Englishtown last summer I saw more than a handfull of MRs with drivers beating the snot out of them on a 94 degree day, and they all left the track with no problems.

If you want to be less paranoid upgrade the SST transmission oil cooler kit, radiator, radiator hoses, and thermostat.

You guys have to keep in mind that it's 35 degrees and a foot of snow here right now. Minnesotans don't know what to do with hot weather. FMIC upgrades are only needed for dyno pulls. haha.

keep it. Unless you are going to track it every day. Are you still under warranty?

It wont overheat on the street. A friend of mine that tracks his MR has that problem on the track. Track and street conditions are completely different though so you'll be fine. Don't fix what isn't broken.

It is sad to me that someone can't make a post without getting ridiculed by a bunch of internet tough guys.

There are car enthusiasts with all levels of technical knowledge. Have a little bit of patience toward the people who know less. You were where they were at one point.

Post count bumps and flaming stuff removed.

To the OP, keep your car. I think it can handle the Florida climate no problem.

lol wtf?

dood, dealership ppl are the most garbage-talking human beings... you'll be fine... otherwise Mitsubishi wouldn't be selling MR, SE and RAs in Florida...

wtf kind of BS is that... coming from a dealer? ....the hell...! my RA is tuned to the point that if I drop one more lb-tq on it the SST would probably blow to kindom kong, and I've drag-raced it during summer with temps in the high 80's down in Homestead... tranny is still as strong as the day I bought it
