When you say "track," what do you mean?

I've been reading a lot of posts the last month or so and I'm confused. People are referring to "taking their cars to the track" and that means one thing to me, but it seems to mean something else depending on what thread I read.

This poll may also double as a way to see what's the most popular use for your X: road course, drag strip, autocross, time attack, rally, show car or daily.

I've gotten used to EvoM that "taking it to the track" means drag strip in so many cases.... But in my head it should be:

strip - drag race strip
track - race track circuit
autox - see name
rallyx - see name

Funny question IMO, and the poll should have multiple answers.

I track my EVO on the roadcourse when engaging in Timeattack and lapping....
I track my Civic on the roadcousre when I race....hmmmm

My buddy brings his 8second Camaro to the track as well...

Not sure where I am going when I autocross!

I think "taking it to the track" should refer to road courses... but I know a lot of people use it for the dragstrip. Some people extend the definition to mean anywhere that is not the street.

Parking lot?

I try to define what it is I'm talking about when discussing racing. Truth be told, I don't talk about much. It's just something one does for personal enjoyment and the results speak for themselves. It's almost a norm to talk about "tracking" the car on automotive forums. Outside of a few notable exceptions, those who refer to it the most tend to do it the least.

i think tracking is good for only the road race type or we can call it a circuit racing.
Any other motorsport has they own name . Like drag + strip
Rally = rally
autoX = auto X etc.
