I think the steering wheel on the X is nice and sporty with the white stitching. I came from an Ap2 steering wheel, its alot smaller but its nice to have all the controls in the steering wheel. Whatever you choose is fine, but you will probably the first one to have an Evo 9 steering wheel in a X.

I Want to Put the Evo X steering wheel in my Evo 8. Anybody have any Ideas or know what kind of adapter I would need. I am going to buy the cruise control for evo 8 and take it apart and make the controls on the Evo X steering wheel functional. but first I need to Install it.

if you dont mind not having an air bag, detachable steering wheel isnt a bad route to go either to the OP

Am I the only one who despises buttons on steering wheels? I ALWAYS am hitting them when steering.

you are not alone. the less clutter the better, especially in a sports car.

If i want buttons, I'd go buy a lexus or a ford focus or whatever consumers with 30+mpg are buying these days.

only reason I think mitsubishi added them is too make the interior more "upscale." which it does add to the look, the steering wheel in the X is just too bulky. The audi steering wheel that someone already posted in perfect. sporty and a few buttons that are small.

If you guys are given a Ferrari 458 Speciale, you can just give it to me.....ya know, since you don't like crap on your steering wheel.

I don't recall having any problems accidentally hitting the buttons in my X. If there is any complaint I would make, it's that the features are all luxury conveniences like radio control. How about putting the damn gauge display and suspension controls on the wheel? I'm often cycling through the dash info screens. Overall, I wish the Evo had a MUCH sportier wheel though. That RS6 one is NICE.

Here's an aftermarket wheel I've considered putting in my Chaser. Would probably suit the Evo as well (it's even got Evo in the name!): http://www.momousa.com/tuning/steeri...enium-evo.html

@Lambolution: What sort of research have you done into things like the steering columns? Are the...splines(?...the gear-like part of the column that the wheel fits onto) the same? Have you removed either car's steering wheel yet to check? I've only done an in-family wheel swap (Series 2 JZX100 Chaser wheel into my Series 1) so I don't have any real answers.

This is how I feel. It really needed to be more than just a circle, I know that is nitpicking, but steering wheels need some ergonomics...

X wheels too far without telescoping. I was for this reason wanting to get aftermarket with dish effect for an extension. I think viii and ix wheels have some dish effects. Viii and ix we're perfect in driving position. What up with my x mr???

X wheels are flat and look Camry fitting!!! Too busy and no sporty curvature and Mitsu forgot about the proper driving position!!!

Xi wheel and xi recaros would be nice!

I also wish that the steering wheel in the Evo X was closer to the driver.

Anyone else think X seats are hard as bricks! My recaros from VIII and IX were much more relaxed in comfort. I'm thinking of swapping the drivers seat...

I extended my steering column out on my X about 1.8 inches and it is perfect now. I sent the stripped down steering column to Kito in Seattle to have him extend it like he did for someone back in 2009 or 2010. Not a difficult job getting it in and out, and Kito did a really good job. The stock position was too far away with my seat back all the way in a comfortable position. On track days I had to move the seat far too close to get the proper arm/wrist position and after a full weekend my knees really hurt from being wedged in the car and I knew my foot position did not lend itself to good pedal work. With the extension I am comfortable on the street with the seat all the way back and on track days I click the seat one inch forward to get the proper arm/wrist position and to really cinch down my 4 point harness. My legs have plenty of room and my pedal work improved dramatically. This was the most effective driving mod I can probably ever do. Way less fatigue now with the wheel in the correct position and the 4 point harness holding me tight.
