dang it! ets installed with exhaust leak

dang it! I spent forever putting in my ets test pipe back exhaust... fired it up, and it's leaking from the test pipe - mid pipe connection. I tightened it down as much as possible and it's still leaking.

My thought is one of two things. Either I'm an idiot and put the test pipe in wrong sided or the gasket is an issue. I installed the test pipe with the O2 sensor on the drivers side. I wouldn't think the test pipe is in wrong except most of the exhaust sits flush against the bottom of the car and I don't know if it's supposed to or not. Seems odd since the factory exhaust would move two inches by pushing on it. The ets has no free play in it at all. It sits right up against the bottom of the car.

After I started the car I could feel and hear the leak. I used the supplied new gaskets. I turned off the car and condensation leaked out of the connection at both ends of the test pipe... again, don't know if that's normal or not?

Since I can't make it any tighter my plan is to confirm the test pipe is in the right way and double up on my gaskets? pics...

test pipe to down pipe.. with water that leaked out

test pipe pictured from the drivers side... I have not secured the 02 sensor line yet..

seems super close to my axle and you can see it flush up against that silver bracket

pic from rear of car.. the flange in the middle of this picture is the back end of the test pipe -- leaking.

It's installed backwards. Didn't know it could even fit that direction. Flip it around and I bet everything seals right up

See the stub in the 2nd picture that's an exhaust hanger bracket. when your done flipping it around could you post up some more pics showing the clearance

Thanks!

I don't know if I should laugh or cry, lol.

Yes, it fits this way, and it's pretty darn tight.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So, since I don't want to do this again.... spent forever fitting it in its current position......

I need to take it off, and flip it front to back? So then the O2 sensor is nearest the mid pipe. The 02 sensor should still be facing the driver side or passenger...

What does a minor exhaust leak look/feel like? This is a serious question, not trying to burn ya.

depends where the leak is, but you will hear a slight ticking I guess is the easiest way to describe it. You can hear the exhaust gases escaping between the flanges. Do not run your vehicle with an exhaust leak for long you can possibly warp the flanges.

What would an exhaust leak at the front end of a dp sound like?

Oh and what is the best way to test for that? I have tried the plug the tips with your hands and see if you hear it thing, and i think i am good. Just want to get some more knowledge to make sure. Thanks!

Is it backwards like front to rear, or does it need to be rotated?
