So I picked up my 2011 GG SSS Evo X last Saturday and while driving home from work Wednesday night, I hit massive pot hole in my town and bent two of my rims. The front rims is very noticable and the rear is slightly bent. WTF shoud I do about this? I haven't even made a payemnt on the car yet and have to file an insurance claim?
I did file a police report, should I try to make the town pay for this? The pot hole was about 1 1/2 feet wide and filled with water so I didnt even notice it while driving. The cop that filed the report said that the town was aware of the pot hole so I think that they are to blame. This Sucks...
Oh and btw, hole was filled the next morning...
Has anyone here been in a similar situation? I know many of you will say time to upgrade, which is an option, but I really don't feel like buying rims at this moment.

Filing a claim against the city is extremely time consuming and I wouldn't recommend it from my experience. I had the same experience and filed a claim against the city and it took them a year to reply back that they are looking into my claim. It's been 2 yrs and still no news.. U can either report it to insurance and pay deductible and possibly raise ur monthly payment. Or just pick up used rims on this forum since Mitsubishi charges arm and a leg for stock rims. Gl with it.

That really sucks, but I would think the easist/cheapest solution is to find some used wheels on this forum.
Or, use it as an excuse to buy wheels...you know you wanted to anyway.

go to a place that fixes wheels, or there are a couple guys who will come to you and fix it.

Ah, arent you glad you pay outrageous taxes in NJ and they barely take care of the roads there? I used to live there and went through about 3 entire sets of Konig's when i had my Integra.
The government sucks and your probably going to deal with more of a headache than anything else unless you can get your insurance company to deal with the town then you might not have to deal with all the BS.
My ex's dad was driving down the road in his freshly painted truck and up ahead they were striping the road and he turned behind then of course when the paint is already supposed to be dry and it got spatter all over the truck and he wound up getting the insurance company to fix it and didnt pay anything and they dealt with the town about it...

Talk to your insurance company, I'd rather pay a $500 deductible and get two brand new wheels than pay $500 for someone's used set. Wouldn't hurt to talk to the city either, easy enough to stop by city hall or write a letter.

Yeah this is probably the best option. Or I guess I could just rock the bent rims and put that $500 towards a set of Works or Enkeis since they aren't crazy expensive... Just sucks rocking a brand new car with 2 bent rims...Originally Posted by Kracka

It'll depend on what his deductibles are. Most folks deductibles are $500. Regardless, he'll have to pay that when he can easily dish out $500 for some mint used wheels. Then there's the question of if his rates will go up or not. Kinda crappy to have your premiums rise because of $xxx for something he could've easily avoided by going the cheap route.
I know in Texas, pot hole accidents are covered under collision coverage. Depending on how accountable the city is...he could have his insurance company subrogate. Where his insurance pays him for the wheels and he pays for the deductible...in return his insurance company will make an attempt to collect the money for damages and his deductible.
The premiums on this car is already expensive to begin with...I wouldn't want it even to raise by a few dollars.

i did the same thing in my x but i only bent 1 rim and it cracked. It was hard to find a replacement rim where i live. places wanted like $860 for one. I ended up buying a refurbished rim for $250. good luck
Go to your town's BMW, Mercedes or comparable highline dealer.
There'll be some guy with an F-250 Powerstroke with a trailer attached to it that says "Alloy Wheel Repair" on it parked in the back of the lot. He'll be fixing all the bent wheels on all the BMW's. If he's not there, ask somebody in service what day he'll be there next. It will be a Tuesday or Thursday around 10:00AM. Have a few bills on you and somebody follow you so you can go grab lunch or kick it at the mall for a couple of hours.
Problem solved.
Next time, buy the road hazard insurance that you assumed was a scam that the finance manager tried to sell you when you bought the car. It probably would have paid for itself by now.
