Big difference in driving experience between this car and you STI (both good and bad). The notchy transmission and "rev hang" on the RPMs are two of the negatives. Crazy handling and whp mod for mod are two of the positives.

My Notch didn't really go away when I shift into second until I hit 4.6k miles. Also, I changedmby fluid to redline and bushings and a heavier shift knob to TWM at around 3k and it's barely feeling smooth now. Still notchy sometimes. Just give it some time. But it's something you're going to have to live with if you stick with this car.

Thanks, I read through most of it. I started the thread mainly to get some updated feedback since some of those are from 08/09.

I actually don't miss the STI for some reason, it was stage 2 and protuned but just it doesn't feel nimble. I noticed the rev hang on the X too, but not too bother by it..

Not sure what to say about first gear bought mine with 15k miles on it and never had a issue. Reverse doesn't have a dedicated gear its a mesh of 1st and 3rd to get reverse that's why you're having the lockout issue there. For reverse just roll the car forward a bit, whether in neutral or 1st and reverse should pop right in.

i changed my bushings (shift and underhood) at like 500 miles, along with the redline fluid. Felt like i was shifting the old "cruisin the usa" arcade shifter. Smooth fast and straight into the gears.

recently, I assume because it is cold, i have been getting some of the 1st and reverse jams. Double clutch and back on my way. I am about to replace the redline with amsoil GL4 though, just because.

Though my shifter was just a tad bit notchy(bearly noticeable) I bought under the hood shifter bushings and all gears slide ride in like a wet chocha...!
