I'm getting an Evo?
-_- omg you people don't listen.
I never said I would drive the car into the ground or anything remotely close to that.
Let me make it simple:
IS THE EVO A RELIABLE VEHICLE?
I've owned nothing but mitsu and dodge, I would expect a $30,000 car to take care of itself for the first 100,000 miles. Mitsu doesnt have a reputation for that so i'm turning to the OWNERS instead of the reviews.

All you need to know is this:
An Evo takes a lot more maintenance than a normal car. More frequent checks, more frequent fluid changes, more places that need updates. It's a performance vehicle so it goes with the territory.
To my knowledge there isn't any major issues with a X or any Evo for that matter. As long as you take care of it, it will be just fine.

EVO's are very reliable. 9's are at least. I sold my IX MR with 360whp and 176,000 miles on the clock. great car. so far my X has been good too. the biggest problem with EVOs have always been the drivers screwing the cars up and wrecking them, then trying to blame it on mitsubishi.
i'm 22 years old.
My first car was an 89 acura integra. if you want to talk about running something into the ground and driving like a maniac. I got sane towards the end of my ownership. owned from 200,000-220,000
second car: Dodge Neon W/supercharger. Awesome car. great power. never gave me a single problem. Owned from 70,000-180,000 miles.
02 mitsubishi lancer: this car was totalled within 5 days of me owning it. I overloaded the car and avoided another accident in progress, thus spinning out of control...thats the last timeI help someone move <.< owned from 114,000- 114,015
Next car: ford tarus.... ugh.
Next car: 2003 bmw *insert random numbers and letters* this car was awesome, I drove it for a few years, but we couldn't afford it.
another 02 Lancer. Great car, but the auto trans didnt hold up after 150,000 miles mostly because I used engine breaking alot when I lived in the hills. owned from 90,000-currently 160,000mi RRM header and CAI.
08 Lancer DE. awesome car, great power but I can't help but feel that it's gonna die on me in 100,000 miles JUST because it's not an evo XD I know it's silly but lets face it, I have money now so why not?
Just to give you a history about me, my cars/wrecks and my driving habits. I drive smooth, simple, elegant...like a cheesy luxary commercial, but that doesnt mean that I dont liek to downshift to pass up a few sunday drivers on a saturday night and turn a few heads.....you guys KNOW you do... <.<
P.S. the BMW was my mom's and the Acura was given to me as a "first vehicle." The taurus was a loaner car after the wreck of the lancer I've only PURCHASED dodge and mitsu.

dont modify, dont launch it, enjoy it through spirited driving and you wont have to worry about issues and wil still have your warranty, unless you find a dealer that is mod friendly many dealers will be ok with a TBE, intake and a tune they will still honnor warranty with these mods
I'm actually surprised to say this, but at the end of this year, I'll have enough cash to get an evo!
I was dead set on getting a ralliart this summer, but If I just wait another 6 months, I can get an evo. I want the 5 speed. I don't trust the Twin clutch.....plus, I like having a clutch. period. Every car that I ever own from now until the end of TIME will have a 3rd pedal!
here is my dilemma: I heard that there were alot of problems with the New evos...You'd think that a $30,000+ car could give you zero worries for the first 100,000 miles at least. I must admit, that I'm scared after reading alot of topics about the rear differential, the Center differential (inside the 5 speed), among other issues...
so my question to the owners is: is it really THAT bad? I want to buy a vehicle that I don't have to worry about for at least 100,000 miles (150,000 if it has a timing chain) I've heard about alot of problems at just the 7,000Mi mark. I don't plan on driving my evo like a maniac, but I do want to have fun in it, and dart in and out of traffic on a daily basis. I'm in metro Las Vegas so getting around quickly is important to me. I make frequent trips to Cali in my car, so Reliability is my #1 priority. I want an Evo because it's...AN EVO! If this one isn't built tough, maybe I should go for an evo 9 instead? Please give me some input!
I currently Have an 08 Lancer DE, which seems to be flawless for now....though it idles low at stops, but thats extremely minor compared to holes in the transmission.
