Not if your on the western end of the TP, where there are only 2 lanes. Some slow driver will always block you for miles.

Sorry, the civic is just to small/highschool student for me.

I'd much rather get an evo/charger/bmw. something that performs well and looks good while doing it. charger is no where near mitsu with reliability. bmw not worth the money. Evo seems to be just right. Im just curious to know how long I can drive it before I have to do some major work on it.

Evos' are pretty reliable for a performance car as long as you take care of them and don't drive em like an idiot. Obviously, the maintenance would be higher than your lancer, but not as as bad as german sedans. I just crossed 20k yesterday and so far the only maintenance I've done are oil changes, brake fluid, alignment and tires. The biggest jump you'll see is in insurance payments and gas, I drive without spooling too much and get around 20 mpg in mixed driving.

bull****!!! you dont buy an evo x and dont modify.... if you buy an evo and you dont modify it ... your are a moron....evo's are cars to be modified......

what i will say to you is ..... have fun with it modify it ... but there is a limit to modifiying a car... so as long as you dont cross that line your going to be fine and your going to have a blast with the car becuase evo's are car to have fun with and go fast if you want to go slow get a cadi....

good luck my friend...

Not everyone wants to throw away their warranties, and not everyone needs to mod the Evo.

Many people want the evo as a track car. Unless you want to race in a higher class at the track where you'll be racing against people with infinite amounts of money, then you WANT a stock Evo.

I'd say about 97% of the people that drive modded evos couldn't drive a stock Evo to it's full potential.

Thanks Guys. I don't really plan on modding my evo because well....it's already as fast as I'd need it to go for what I plan on doing with it.... (driving it....making speed runs back and forth to cali) So I wouldn't mod it....My DE goes as fast as I need it to go, but it feels like im pushing the car beyond it's limits sometimes. my max speed in the DE was 115. Im looking to get there in the evo WITHOUT having my RPMS in the 5-6000 range. Also, AWD for the corners/weather conditions.

If I would mod ANYTHING, it would my DE to be honest.

Your going to be in that 5-6k range for 115 mph. The GSR revs about 3.7k to 3.8k rpm at 80ish mph. Difference is you can rev an evo to the moon.

There is a TON of information in this forum about Evo reliability and other possible issues. None of these issues are predictors that you will experience them but if you are looking for a headache free car with little to no issues, you may want to look elsewhere.

Here are some of the more frequent issues brought up by Evo X owners:

Notchiness - Notchiness (note that the greatest number of responses are under "notchiness & grinding all the time")

Seat Quality (comfortable but some have experienced issues with staples coming out) - GSR Recaros Suck

As others have said, you will also be living with tire changes, oil changes, gassing up (highest Octane in your state btw), mod bug, clutch (if you don't know how to drive), tickets, and that never-ending temptation to race and launch the car. All of these factors put together will not give you a "hassle free" experience. If you want to live and breathe your car and have the funds to cover all these things, then buy the Evo. If you are the kind to buy a car and not think about it, this is not the car for you.

Look you can do what you want, but what i have read is that you are 22, want to dart in and out of traffic, went 115 in a lancer, and feel it revved too high doing it, so you want an evo that can do it with out struggling... am I correct?

The evo will go 115 effortlessly, but in the high 4k revs.

That being said, do not come on these forums expecting people to not give you crap for looking for a car so that you can go that fast...

I don't care how empty the road is you are speeding on, a large pothole or a blowout while going 115 or more isn't going to care how good of a driver you are, because half of you will be on one side of a tree, and the other half on the other side.

This is not the car for you, you are obviously immature, and are looking at this car for the wrong reason, save your family and the police that will have to respond to your scattered body some grief and stay with your lancer.

I wanna make something clear to everyone in this thread.

Mentioning any form of breaking the law is against site rules, that includes speeding, street racing, etc. This site supports sanctioned racing, not breaking the speed limit on the freeway.

Please all, keep future posts clean.
