Anyone try to use a IX sunglass holder in the X?

Hey guys,

I've had my Evo X for about a month and one of my peeves is it doesnt have anywhere to 'safely' put sunglasses.

Has anyone tryied to put the IX map light/sunglass holder assembly in the X? There may be a little wiring involved, but thats no problem for me.

The part can be seen here for comparison. (Part #13)

FWIW, I wear Wayfarer IIs. Not small. They fit perfectly.

Well crap. I guess i'm on a mission then. Ill figure this out somehow. I've already cross referenced the schematics and wiring diagrams, and it would be PnP with exception of the mounting points.

most the glasses i wear fold up pretty flat so i'm thinking they'd fit up there too since the raybans fit.

As far as supporting it, thats something im going to have to look at. I'm sure I can fab something up if need be. I'm trying to locate a wrecked 8 or 9 so I can grab the assembly and see what needs to be done.

lol i meant it as my raybans do fit so why do did someone have an issue with a small pair since mine are medium to big lol.

what i am asking is there enough depth between the headliner and the roof.

why dont you just get a visor sunglasses clip? I switch from prescription to sunglasses all the time and it's perfect

The assembly should ust hang lower than what is currently there to make up for the sunglass compartment. I'm sourcing car-part right now to try to find one.

I prefer the look of OEM, I also bought a homelink mirror so I wouldnt have a garage door opener up there.

I rather have a garage door open button. My clown sunglasses don't fit regardless.
