Hopefully it gets totaled and you can get yourself into a new 11. Sorry to hear it man, but on the bright side the car is replaceable/fixable. You aren't! Best of luck

@poof, I'm aware that my flickr account is public viewable. I did it on purpose as Flickr is a site for sharing photographs. That was actually Seoul, S. Korea. I'm in the Army and was stationed there. Thanks for asking. Great place BTW.

As for the EVO, I'm torn as to what I want to happen. If it's totaled, I'll just get a 2011 but maybe an MR this time. If it's fixed, then I'll be hoping that i can purchase the components i want installed. I'll keep y'all posted. Ive been looking into the cost of replacement airbags everywhere but couldn't find any. Does anyone know how much each of the airbags cost individually?

I know it's not the same as an Evo, but I got in an accident with my '01 Eclipse GT that did $8800 worth of damage to the front end. Doesn't look quite as bad as yours, but they had to remove and replace a part of the frame.

That was in 2003, and I drove the car up until Dec of 2010 (when I traded up for the Evo), and you never would have known it was ever in an accident - thing was straight as can be.

You're lucky that both of you have usaa. It will make thing a he'll of a lot easier, on a side note usaa is a top notch company that has always gone above and beyond when I needed something, so either way you're in good hands.

I'm actually surprised that you were allowed to take a car over there... what rank are you? at least in the AF you have to be an e7 last time i checked in order for you to have a car/drive... well i guess if you got joint spouse orders you would be allowed... anyway take the check, and get a 2011

I'm leaning toward total. I seem to recall reading something that suggested an airbag deployment really tips the car in favor of totaling...

Glad you're OK, though. In which part of TX are you?

I'm stationed at Fort Hood. @Talon101, I wasn't command sponsored nor did I take a vehicle over there. I was a E-6 then, now E-7. The EVO was my promotion gift to myself. The accident took place here in Killeen just outside the Fort Hood gate.

so many parts of the Evo are aluminum - cost to repair this would be wayyyy more than on any other car I think

definitely another vote for totaled. hope everything turns out well regardless

Damn homie, it pains me to see an Evo in this shape but I'm glad you're okay. Its def totaled, if they cut you a check and not the bank (in case you were financing) don't bother fixing it. The car will never fly straight, and selling a salvage title is going to be impossible, since someone looking for a used EVO would never settle for a salvage. Hope thing work out for you brotha, accidents suck.

I bought mine used with damage to the rear right suspension. Had to change parts of the suspension and crossmember.
I figure that i was fortunate, but the car drove fine afterwards. No creeks or grinds or rattling of any kind.
Try to ensure that a good bodyshop takes care of your car should it all head in that direction.
Hope it all works out.
