Extremely newb at moding
Anyone want to give me some advice? I want some cheap (and i mean really cheap) ways to mod my X and make it a bit faster. Any ideas? Where can i get "bolt ons" that ive been hearing about so much. Sorry if i sound like a complete newb
Check the ForSale section. Used parts are almost always cheaper. Like previously stated, it will take a decent amount of $$ to make it "fast". What's your defenition of "fast"? And I would hate to throw on cheap parts to make it faster considering what I spent to buy the car in the first place. None the less, good luck.
If you want to stay low price and pretty much stock looking for the California police. Your best bang for buck is going to be a tune.
You can spend $100's on used parts and make a little HP or get a tune and make a significant amount of HP gain/tq/driveability.

Hello Arya. There is a TON of information no this forum for modding your newly leased Evo X. Please be advised that "very cheap" and "faster" usually don't work well together.
In California and ESPECIALLY Orange County, you can get away with these mods provided you don't drive like an a55hat and try to show off while a cop catches you.
Essentially, you can get a tune but many Cali people go at least with a Turboback Exhaust AND a tune. Even with used parts, you are talking about $1000 for something like this.
What "noobs" typically do is buy the first aftermarket Cold Air Intake (CAI) they can afford, pop it on, NOT get a tune, and then screw up their car's performance. Don't do this.
But if your parents already coughed up the money for your large lease down payment, it shouldn't take too much effort to get them to pay you a little more for some decent mods. If you have a job and/or can get them to up your allowance, you'll be good.

get a tune and call it a day. You sound really new...so maybe you should just learn to do your own oil changes and doign your own air filters before doing any kind of modding
And i say this in the most honest, unsarcastic tone. you sound really n00bish lol

Just get a K&N air filter which will run you about $50 and a TUNE from RRE which will run you $500. That's what I have in my car and I gained 50whp and 70lbtq and the car runs much smoother. Don't go anywhere else for a Tune. Road Race is the best!!
Cobb Turbo inlet: $95.00
Perrin Drop In Filter: $45.00
Cobb AP: $595.00
I highly recommend the Cobb AP for your first mod. The stock tune just isn't the best. Also Cobb offers maps online that you can upload for each stage of modding that you go through this way you don't have to pay for a tune each time. But a good pro tune is always awesome.
