Anorexic Evo...

Ok, so I am looking to improve my braking and cornering ability on the track. While good coilovers did a lot, i still feel the car handles too "heavy".

So I wanted to start doing some weight reduction.

However, this is my DD so i cant go nuts like removing seats or spare tires and air bags.

So I was hoping to tap into the knowledge base here of all the people who know of simple and effective things i can remove on the X to lose weight.

Here are some items i have been considering (so feel free to offer a sanity check or opinion on any of them)

- Replace stock front seats with carbon fiber lightweight racing seats (there appears to be a few out there that are livable for DD)

- Replace rear doors with Seibon carbon fiber doors

- Remove AC and related components (i live in Colorado so AC is not a must...)

- Remove sound deadening material from firewall inside car and (if any) front doors

- more??

what do you think guys?

Can i drop 250lbs without doing something crazy?

Replace the stock exhaust? You can save easily 20+ lbs doing that.

you can lose about 40lbs and imrpove braking with a lighter brake kit. most of that is rotating mass as it comes from the rotors

Weight savings can make a big difference but I would suggest you focus on getting the car's handling set up for the track. Coilovers are a good start but sway bars and and bushings (ROCK) etc will go a long way to reduce that heavy feel in the corners. And, of course, the biggest impact to your handling, is tires. R compounds, good ones anyway, will make a tremendous difference in the on track agility of the car.

For weight savings, concentrate on unsprung first. Lighter wheels, tires, rotors and calipers will have a greater affect on the car then swapping your doors. Read the threads, but concentrate on getting the car set up properly for the track and then focus on tweaking for weight savings.

this. reducing rotational mass is the best kind of weight reduction.
