Certified EVO X MR?

Can a dealer certify an EVO X MR? According to the website, and I quote:

"Vehicle Eligibility

Only Mitsubishi models less than five years old -- with fewer than 60,000 miles -- are eligible for certification, and then they must pass a rigorous, 123-point inspection. (Excludes Raider, Lancer Evolution, Lancer Ralliart and Lancer Sportback Ralliart models.)"

Is the site content stale or is the dealer full of it?

They can probably be "certified" but not quality for whatever that certification qualifies the car for.

I lost ya. I think the certification extends the power train warranty to 10/100k. So are you thinking the car will have the extended power train warranty or not?

It will not. The dealer can probably certify the car if it passes that 123-point inspection, but it won't qualify for the 10/100 extended warranty.

I was told by a dealer (take it for what it's worth), Evolutions are never certified pre-owned. Too many knuckleheads putting them back to stock.

what did the dealer exactly tell you?

what might have caused some confusion is that the dealership has to participate in the certified pre-owned program. They don't just send a car for the CPO every now and then if they feel like it

my dealership (both Hyundai and Mitsubishi) doesn't participate in the CPO program, mainly because we haven't found a need for it - CPO costs time and money.

And on Evo's it's hardly worth it. It's great on normal Mitsu's because of the 10yr/100k powertrain warranty (gets halved when buying used), but the Evo is already a 5yr/60k. The best part of CPO is getting the same warranty as new - not for the inspection - any good tuner/mechanic can do that for you
