Thinking about upgrading to an EVO X

First off, hello to you all, long time lurker first time poster. Love the forum.

I am planning to upgrade from my 2010 GTS to an EVO X. I'm very curious to know what some of you think regarding this decision, as well as how I should go about it. As I mentioned, I currently have a 2010 GTS with only ~6200 miles on it (bought it June 3rd of last year, but after thinking it over I'll be kicking myself for years to come if I don't upgrade). That said, does anyone know if it would be better to trade in my GTS when buying the EVO, or should I first try and sell it myself? Also, has anyone had any success selling aftermarket parts through ebay, these forums, or the like? Currently, I have a Greddy SE Catback and RRM SRI installed (as well as some visuals carbon bumper cap, tinted windows). Any help/info would be greatly appreciated, and I hope to join your ranks as an EVO owner soon!

Mark

side note: I was thinking of posting this in this https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...hat-get-x.html thread but I didn't think it would be the appropriate location. If this thread needs to be moved somewhere I apologize in advance.

Since you're still in the first couple years of the loan, sell it yourself for the maximum amount of money you can get for it's value. You'll still most likely take a nice loss on it due to depreciation in the first year.

Yeah, you should be able to sell those parts on here fairly easily.

Good luck!

It would be a fantastic decision! My wife traded in her year old Impreza for a new WRX and has been happy ever since (that was back in 2007). Her friend is about to do the same thing with her Civic for a SI.

I forgot to mention that I bought the car outright. As such, I have no loan and no payments to make on the GTS. Also, thanks for the quick reply!

Awesome, in that case DO IT!!!

It's the best car I've ever owned and it's an absolute blast to drive everyday. Whenever I get wanderlust, five minutes behind the wheel of the X changes my mind.

Sell the parts, sell the car, get an Evo.
Think of it like this, right now you're dating the mousy girl who gives bad blow jobs, cooks well and wears a sweater everywhere because she has small breasts.
You want to date the sexy chick with D's, wearing the low cut shirt who might not be wearing panties. She's more money, she's more trouble, she's more late nights, but she's soooo much fun! Even when you get chlamydia (head gasket failure, transfer case, clutch) you'll smile because you know how you got it.

if you dont mind the huge discrepancy in the gas mileage then do it

the 2008 GTS i was using with a 2.0 engine was getting over 400 miles per full tank.

Take it from me, I cam from an ES "sport" and I got the GSR 2 days ago, probably the best decision you'll make in the near future. I assume youve never driven an evo, but its a whoooole different feeling. When u tap the gas (since im still breaking it in and cant punch it yet) you feel yourself press against the seat, crazy. Do it.

Looking forward to the trip to the dealership later this week.

In regards to the cars themselves... I think it's a no-brainer on if you'll enjoy the EVO lol The only thing that crosses my mind is you're probably gonna take a huge hit on the value of the GTS. But if the finances work out for you... then by all means get the EVO!

Some things you should be aware of tho...

- evo has much smaller trunk
- evo has worse gas mileage
- evo has higher maintenance
- parts for the evo will be more expensive (ie. the smallest wheels you can buy are 18"... this means even winter)
- with the evo you'll have to deal with people always coming up to you and wanting to tell you how nice your car is... LOL

If you are fine with that... then get the EVO! Most exciting daily driver I could possibly have.

Haha. Awesome quote. LOL

I say do it. Everything about the driving experience is 100x's better. But like the above poster said, expect worse gas mileage, higher maintenance and more expensive parts.

I went from an '08 GTS to an '08 Evo X GSR and it was the best decision I've ever made. Absolutely no regrets.
