Some things you should be aware of tho...

- evo has much smaller trunk
- evo has worse gas mileage
- evo has higher maintenance
- parts for the evo will be more expensive (ie. the smallest wheels you can buy are 18"... this means even winter)
- with the evo you'll have to deal with people always coming up to you and wanting to tell you how nice your car is... LOL

If you are fine with that... then get the EVO! Most exciting daily driver I could possibly have.
^Couldn't have said it better myself.

Sell the aftermarket parts off your GTS and sell the car privately before attempting to do a trade-in. This will result in minimal losses.

Check to see if your state has a tax benefit for trading in vs. selling privately. Sometimes this can make up for the difference in what you get for it. Trading in can often be a good negotiating point on the car's price too since this gives the dealership an extra opportunity to profit off the deal.

Thanks for all the feedback thus far, I think I'll do some research on the tax benefits of trading in vs selling privately as Kracka suggested, and then try and sell the aftermarket parts on my GTS. I expected the upkeep and maintenance costs to rise, after all its all part of owning an undoubtedly much nicer car. Either way, that shouldn't be a problem. Suggestions on which color to get the new GSR in?

Graphite Grey.... it is a color that matches with alot of after market wheels.. GG cars can pull off color combos most cant. IMO.

Kracka nailed it with the taxes. If I'm not mistaken both MD and VA only tax the difference in the purchase price if you trade a vehicle. ie evo cost 32000 your trade is worth 27,000. You only pay taxes on the 5k. If you sale out right your going to at minimum pay taxes on the full purchase price of the new vehic and likely capitol gains on the old vehic. I fracking hate paying taxes.

I love my stock '08 X, but if you were in Cali, I would have been open to a trade offer (my X for your GTS) because I'm crazy like that.
