Clicking noise when boosting

Hey guys. Trying to figure out a weird noise on my car. The clicking noise ONLY happens when I accelerate and I am in boost. Once I let go of the accelerator or am in pre boost it does not make this sound. Has anybody had this problem. Thanks for helping

Yup, it's the solenoid. Honestly though, ditch the EBC and get a 3-port and control it with the ECU.

That's great if you tune yourself. However, many of us do not, nor ever intend to. Sure, the tuner can use it to control the boost, but I also like to be able to control the boost in case I encounter spikes and such.

For these reasons I like an EBC.

I have the Grimspeed on my car and it's been good to me. The "Prodrive" one that CBRD, Tactrix, Cobb, etc. sell also seems to be quality.

grimmspeed is about $75 too expensive.

You can still get a GM 3 port (or equivalent) for about $30 if you know what you are looking for.

I have a Grimmspeed 3 port and I also get this initial series of clicks when I initially begin to boost? Kinda sounds like predator for a 1, 1 thousand count and then it's gone. Maybe a burst of 4 or 5 clicks in close sequence. Anything to be concerned with? Can anyone explain how a function creates this noise?

I have the Grimmspeed and don't get the clicking noise, atleast that I'm aware of. Maybe I should turn of the radio and give a better listen?

Give it a listen. I was mistaken about when I hear it. Basically whenever I begin to boost. If I'm in boost and boost more then no sound.

the pieburg is the best in our opinion-

these solenoids will make noise (all of them) if they are hard mounted to the chassis without being isolated- just food for thought-

Thanks for clearing that up. Mine is hard mounted. It's a very subtle sound, you really have to listen for it so I don't mind it but I'm glad there is logical reasoning behind it.
