What is 'already'? A 2008? 2010?

I'm an '08/61k miles, still going.

mine is 2008. 16k miles =/

I guess the battery drains quicker on a smart key compare to a normal remote lock/unlock key.

Mine is an 08 with 24K and I've had no issues with the key. Good news is that they are easy to replace if needed.

That's funny, I just got that message this morning too! Changing it out this weekend, along with the oil.

~3 years same battery but will be needing to change it soon. Anybody know if this can be done at home or do we need to take the car in?

It's the same battery as on mother boards. Take a tiny flat head screw driver and carefully pry the 2 halves apart. There is a little box indent where you will place the screw driver to pry. Once the 2 halves come apart put in the new battery.

Careful though because the battery that comes standard is thicker than the new battery you will buy. I had to put a small folded up piece of paper on the battery to make sure it kept touching the terminals.

Probably because you got the wrong one?

The CMOS battery off your MB will still work though. But I suppose if we looked up the actual battery part #. You wouldn't need a paper to fill the void.

But thanks for the advice on how to take it apart since I haven't bother trying yet.

gonna be a year in august and I drive it everyday. I use the key all the time locking/unlocking and the battery on the key is still going. If your battery i s dying fast the battery came with it might be crappy compared to the other ones... its just luck you know. Easy replacement though... Just hit the dealer and ur done in a min.
