Weird clunk coming from the rear

Here's my problem.

Sometimes, when I start the car, just a second after, i hear a "clunk" that comes from rear.

And sometimes, after driving the car....I stop completely and the same clunk occurs.

the car has 45 000 miles.

I had that same problem too for a period of time. That sound comes on when you turn on the car right? Try turning on the car when the handbrake is on and compare that with the handbrake off.

Evo's have noisy drivetrains. This is fairly typical for any Evo or DSM.

I think the OP is talking about a clunk that occurs before the car even moves. Sounds like the rear hydraulic pump to me. Warranty.

Could be your rear differential.

Ouch. [Reading pwns me.]

Let's just hope it's something silly like the emergency-brake pads stick, then.

Good thing the Evo has a 5/60 drivetrain warranty, take it in.

OK. At this point I've proven I can't read posts and can't read my warranty. And I might be wrong that he's hearing the clunk before moving. If it weren't for the fact that 0s and 1s are free, I'd be feeling guilty as well as stupid by now.

I hear the clunk like a second after starting the car, no moving at all....I turn the engine on and then...clunk clunk!

and sometimes it does the same clunk clunk a second after I parked the car (engine is still on)

I told it to the dealer, so they will check on next Tuesday. They suspect the pump but I also told them to watch for the diff.
