The guy at my dealership told me to keep it in normal mode for the 1st few hundred miles to break it in. Other than that, not really much to point out. In normal mode it really emulates a run of the mill auto in the sense that its really straight forward.
Oh and I was reading the manual and it said that if you're idling for a while (more than you would at a stop light...) you should put it in neutral as opposed to leaving it in drive. Also, the car has a tendency to lurch forward when you lift your foot off the break. Manual says that using that to move around at low speeds for extended periods will head your SST up.
If you're driving it and you hear it whine (especially in 1st gear) don't worry because its normal. I lost a night of sleep over the whine the 1st day I bought the car thinking the transfer case is going to crap out on me but apparently the gearbox and transfer case are just loud in general.

So u have settings for the transmission (normal, sport and s sport) and u also have settings for the paddles?? When u say manual your referring to using the paddles? I'm just worried when I pick it up from the uk and drive it back to Germany, when I'm driving on the ferry and have to stop on it's ramp with traffic that I shoot forward. Haha, that won't b good if I go into the back of some one
Break it in first, dont launch it hard, you can do spirited driving once in a while during breakin, save up already for fluid/ filter replacement post breakin, i did mine at 10k,you can do manual or auto on all 3 modes depending on driving conditions, sport/s-sport is a blast to drive just make sure u have enough road, if ur lazy just set it on auto all u have to do is brk/gas point and shoot,i miss the heel/toe action sometimes, if u daily drive the car its nice that u dont have to deal with a clutch in rush hour, good luck

As for the car lurching forward, if you take your foot of the brake the car will start to roll forward even though you're not using the throttle (like in a regular automatic). Mitsubishi says that if you do this for extended periods of time the transmission may heat up, so they recommend that if you're sitting still for long periods of time just put it in neutral and back into D whenever you need to move. I'm certain you won't have any issues but its just something to keep in mind if there's really heavy traffic and you're not moving for long periods of time.
The only other settings you control is the S-AWC settings where you get to pick your driving surface (Tarmac, Gravel, Snow). In tarmac more power is sent to the rear wheels, in gravel it's pretty even, and snow mode is FWD biased. S-AWC is just a button between the cup holders and the shifter and you press it to toggle through the settings.
