Why is it so hard to give my money to a dealership?

I've been in the process of locating and buying a new Evo for a few days now. I decided my 03 with 105k needs to retire. Who knew it would be so dang hard to get a dealer to call me back!

I emailed 5 different dealers around me stating exactly what I wanted... 2011 Evo GSR in WW, GG, or OB with leather and navigation. Of course I got the canned email back stating they wanted my business and to let them know if they could help me in any way. One dealership was really eager and the internet sales guy emailed me immediately, but was completely clueless about Evos. Wanted to know if I wanted an Automatic GSR!!!! Immediately ruled them out.

I have had to follow up with every dealership and even called a couple who said they would check their stock and what was slated to come in and still never heard anything back. A customer service rep called from Don Herring in Plano to ask how my experience had been! I told him I couldnt get anyone to call or email me back. Ran through everything with him over the phone and he swore he would call me right back. You guessed it; never heard from him.

Why is it so difficult to give a dealership almost 40 thousand dollars. Am I expecting too much?

Most probably already sold all their 2011's. You know the 2012's are only 2 months away right?

I called or emailed just about every Mitsu dealership within a 200-mile radius, and still couldn't work anything out locally.

Many wouldn't write or call back, a few wanted full MSRP or higher, and the closest dealership refuses to stock the Evo and wasn't willing to order one (or have one brought in from another dealer). Makes me wonder if it's even that hard to get a Veyron, lol

Call up Sam at Southcoast, work out a deal, and have it shipped.

Thanks for the heads up on the dealer in Il. I'll check that one out.

I realize the 12's will be out shortly, but I'm willing and wanting to buy one now. I've found several and contacted those dealerships, but still cant get them to call back. I don't feel like I should have to hassle a dealer to sell me a car.

I called a dealer last night that has one that meets my criteria. We talked for several minutes and agreed on a price. He was going to check on a few things I had questions about and call me right back. I told him I would book my flight as soon as we talked again... Never heard from him. Unbelievable.

I did text Smash at Sam Coast yesterday, but never heard back from him. I'm almost wondering if they were stalling bc the 0% financing was still in place until today. If I get calls from all of the dealers today that will answer that question. Surely they will continue 0 % on all remaining 2011's.

I had a similar experience s2krn. I was trying to land on an 2011 X while over here in afghanistan and you can imagine how difficult that is... atleast you could make phone calls to the dealership :P my shifts were opposite timezones to the states.

Anyways, I ended getting into contact with Mike @ Pavilion Mitsubishi in Austin, TX. You mentioned Plano so I thought this may be of interest to you. Mike is the Sales Manager of the dealership and is very knowledgable in not just the normal mitsu's on the lot but Evo's as well. He definitely hooked me up while i was over here, and when I went home on mid-tour leave, I walked into the dealership and he had all paperwork ready for me to sign. He just wanted my money

So again, Pavilion Mitsubishi in Austin, TX if you're interested.

EDIT: and i know for a fact 2 weeks ago they still had a WW hiding in the back (weather was being difficult). i didn't get a chance to see the options though. No wing though i remember that, so coulda been a SE or MR.

You're up north, then your Evo is waiting for you in Orlando... cheapest price this side of the Mississippi!:

http://www.rchillmitsubishi.com/new-...ventoryListing

*I don't work for them, nor get paid to advertise... but their prices are just crazy... I couldn't buy one from them cause their banks didn't want to give me anything 3.6% or lower on my loan so I bought local (Miami) and it ended up being 2k more expensive cause these fools wouldn't lower their price...*

Good luck! and get one before they run out!

Or wait till Oct/Nov for the 2012 GSR which comes with a new feature... a shift-indicator light.

Dont get to put off by the internet sales guy, his job is to move cars even if he/she doesn't know jack **** about them. Truth is youre not going to find many salesmen that know more about an evo than you. Hell when I bought mine X back in 08 I actually had 1 saleman tell me that the car had a 4g63 in it. I still bought the car from them as the price was right at the time, you just have to take a typical salesmans lack of knowledge with a grain of salt. Especially if he can locate the car your chasing at the price you want.

When buying a car it's better to negotiate in person. Tricky if no dealerships in your area have cars you want however. These guys aren't social media or Internet experts. It's just the old school sales mentality.

Yeah I hear Pavilion mitsubishi in austin is good. I'm in san antonio and please don't look for one here, all 3 of the mitsu dealers suck imo, the third one I found out buying my used mr, dreadful experience. I'm done with mitsu after I sell my evo

Wait 2 months for the 2012. Other than that, do NOT deal with internet sales guys (no offense to anyone if they are one). I have always dealt with the manager of the dealership. For example for the evo... It is a specialty car. It is not a car that sits out on the lot all the time compared to lets say an outlander.

Well hopefully I won't be looking for another car for 8 yrs. My 2003 was a great car and I loved it... still have it as a matter of fact. Two WW Evos will look great in my garage!

This is true however I have seen a few dealers around my location that have 3-4 Evos parked outside albeit not next to Outlanders, but still outside in the back lined up.

They did the same thing with the 2010's since they had such an overstock.
