Like Father, like Son. A tale of two Evos.
Like Father, like Son. A tale of two Evos.
At the end of July, my son got a brand new, 2011 Evo GSR. After only a month of ownership, he has added a Magnaflow 3" exhaust, ITG intake filter, AMS boost pill and a TephraMod tune done by Ron Soliman of RSMotors in Minnesota. The car made an amazing 80 hp more with just these mods and the tune.
Right after he got the car, a close friend of mine who was also a fellow moderator on a very large Honda forum got his car totalled out when a drunk teenage girl who was texting, T-boned his Civic Si and totalled it out. So, my friend started looking to find a replacement Civic Si and decided to contact me. After repeated offers, I finally decided to sell my Si.
So, with the money from the sale of my Si, I decided to buy an Evo for myself. I searched far and wide throughout the United States to find a decently priced Octane Blue Evo X. I found one in Texas. Had the car shipped up to my homestate of Minnesota and now our family has two Evos.
When the car arrived, it was absolutely filthy from the road trip. My son and I spent 10 hours detailing it, washing 2x, claybarring with aggressive claybar, polished with Meguiar's 205 on my Flex DA, one coat of Menzerna Power Lock sealant and 2 coats of DP Max carnauba wax. The car turned out really well. Hope you enjoy the pics!

I first went online and found some through Uship and several websites. However, the sales manager at Hub Mitsubishi in Houston told me to use a guy that transports cars for the dealership. So, I went with him instead. Price was about $600 from Houston to Minneapolis. Open transporters are cheaper btw than closed transporters. My car was the first one picked up and the driver made sure to put it at the front on the lower ramp. Even though he said he didn't know much about cars, he knew that this one was special LOL.
