Its a Love / Hate Relationship.
The MPG meter.
I love the fact that it tells me how well I'm doing, but Y U NO GO ABOVE 23MPG?!?
I'm still breaking the car in and babying it / driving like a grandma with the occasional quick sprint. As soon as I push the gas down a little the green bar goes away
Otherwise, I'm in love. A little over 300 miles on the car, and I'm constantly breaking out in grins.
But, does anyone else get that feeling?

But if you're referring to the feeling of constantly breaking out in grins... then YES, I do get that feeling
I just got my GSR 3 weeks ago and I'm at about 900 miles so I've already filled 5 times so get used to the gas mileage...at first it can be a little shocking how quickly those blue bars go away but that all fades away with a push of the accelerator (no pun intended)...this car is all about performance so this is expected. I too always have a grin and now I really can't stand being at work waiting for lunch to go drivin. Another thing you'll have to get used to is all the stares and positive comments..you wont get that with a prius so just block out the gas mileage thing..its worth it!
I'm pushing 1K on my new EVO 10 MR and having a blast. Don't give crap about the gas since I knew this going in. My only concern living in the most congested traffic area in the US, Washington DC, that I'll have enough in the tank if I get caught up in a three hour back up. I don't let the tank go below half now.

You bought an eve get use to it or move on to something that actually cares about mpg. Harsh yes but it won't get better once u start to have with the car and a worse so when u start modding it if u do.

Gas mileage is about the only downside to the car as a DD.. well, and the expensive maintenance.. but we all knew those things when we bought it. The Evo is an amazing machine.
To the OP, just don't try to save money by putting cheap tires on it when you need them. That kind of defeats the purpose. I got about 10k miles out of the stockers. And you will definitely want to take the summer tires off or buy new rims/winter tires as the stock tires aren't made for the snow at all..

OP dont worry about gas milage yet, you still only have 300 miles on it, and the first couple thousand miles you will have the worst millage, I have 30k miles on my 08 GSR and I easily get 200-240 miles per tank and with only filling up with 12 gallons, its not too shabby. Its also my DD.
Dont worry about the first few thousand miles, not only you dont really get decent mpg but also the new rush of having a new car let alone being an EVO you feel like the beast goes to the gas station and does premium fuel shots.
I was always around 19-21 till about a month ago when I got stage 2 and a tune now I am rocking 26-28, same style driving. I literally drove it for like a grandma one whole day to test the MPG out and I did reach 32. Factory tune is bad for MPG and performance because it is a very very conservative tune.

I realized what I was getting into when I bought the car, it was kind of a light hearted joke. Don't get me wrong, I love the car and wouldn't trade it for anything else. I was just wondering how everyone else felt. I know that the posted mpg for highway is 23, so I was happy to get that. I was dailying a camry *bleh* for a while before I got the evo so its a pretty big difference.
lol yes it is. My car has been in the shop for a week and will be for another 2 weeks... And I am driving a rental camry right now.... Who knew a car could actually take out the fun in driving... I feel 90 years old and sleepy when I am driving the camry.
I agree with both statements. Many car manufactures are making high powered sports cars that get 30 mpg now. One that comes to mind is the mustang. On the same nite I would never own one haha. I do think that you knew what oh were getting into when you bought it. Gas is one of those things we will always have to pay for. I would just drive the car and enjoy it so you drive yourself crazy watching the gas gauge or mpg data all the time.
