Its a Love / Hate Relationship.
My X, Is also fairly new. I've had "Michio" since late April. I've now done 9800km ish.. 3 oil changes 1 set of tires and a couple minor mods.
On the high way i get 350-415km on about 39-41L of gas. Most gas I've put in was 44.2L I'm guessing it's a 45L tank..
in the city I'll get 180-240km on the same 38-40L (usually fill up sooner in the city)
On the track (stratotech race way in fort sask alberta) from a full to the brim tank i get 97km. When the gas meter says 1/2 on a straightaway full throttle it bucks like it's starving for fuel. with a lap or two later... leaving the track the gas meter plummets to nearly empty as if i't was confused, on if it was supposed to be really 1/2 a tank or 1/16th a tank. at that point I'm usually at 95km by the time i hit the gas station the fuel light is on.
PS i wish there was a company that i could buy an optional 60L tank. Yes it might change the weight balance but it would be a helava-lot more convenient. Especialy if it was a Sump type with Gforce double pumper fuel pump's like the Volvo V70R set up. i'ts great. there's one pump up high and one down low. and the tank is shaped so if your cornering hard you'll never starve for fuel.
In Conclusion, as asked by the OP.. Yes every time i get in the car there's a grin on my face.
Side note*
After a lot of debate the only car i'd think of moving out of the 4door sedan evo would be to a Wagon evo like one of the other members these forums has. If GM can make a CTS-V Wagon why can't mitsu make an Evo Wagon again. Ski'ers and Snowboarders, Avid hikers and back country go'ers would have the Ultimate Vehical. I'm Trying my Dardest to stay away from a Volvo XC70,60,90 for my Back country weekends.
Question for the Origional poster,
Will you use your evo for Out doors activities? Driving to a hiking, cycling, camping, skiing area or spot?
I'm always curious if these cars are being used for "tarmac" only use. or if they're being used for off tarmac; back country roads/ logging roads off the map type stuff. I'm starting to think that I'll need to buy some Coilovers and raise my car up about 3" with small break kit 15" wheels etc

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Winner of worlds most annoying signature goes too...
2000 miles between oil changes. You're wasting good oil and money. Zero reason you should be going threw that much oil.

I hadn't thought about it really. Maybe a gravel road when I go down a smaller path to go fishing or something.
I care about gas mileage. That's why I bought a Ford Fiesta for a DD (that and the fact that the TIENs I fitter to the Evo made it un-drivable) After removing the POS TIENs from the Evo I no longer drive the Ford.
I guess I actually *dont* care about gas mileage...

Most people don't buy an Evo for fuel economy, I know I didn't.....but I commute 250 miles a week right now and it's my only car. So ya I can save $10 a week if I baby it and take it easy. If you want the best fuel economy, keep it under 65, no a/c, and mods help ( or so i've heard). Your best economy is at about 40-45 mph, you can average over 30 at that speed consistently, I get 22.5-24 per tank a week, that's 50/50 city/hwy and calculated at the pump. The in-car gauge is convenient but not completely accurate.
