I've own both 5 speed 2005 Evo VIII and now a 2011 Evo X MR. And I've got to say. It all depends where you live. If you live in a heavy traffic area like a big city or a close suburb of one. The MR is the way to go. But if you live in light traffic area. Then I would go for GSR !

I was also in the market for a new X. I test drove both the GSR and MR. Thank GOD I kept searching and found a 9 mr with low miles.

A note I haven't heard is about modification intent. Others can fill in these blanks better than I, but somewhere around 400hp the SST starts to electronically give out and just say "no way."

Can anyone fill in better details on that I dont' want to mislead.

Incorrect. I have well over 450 Hp and close to 480 now. Its not the SST thats weak its my engine. Upgradeing rods and pistons, will break over 500 hp and 450 tq.

400 wtq the rods give out (mustang dyno)
350 wtq (clutch gives out)

SST requires a good deal of transmission upgrading for 500 wtq
Manual just requires clutch + master cyclinder

SST is faster shifting (better at holding large turbo boost)
Manual is more reliable (bigger cut gears, simpler)
