convince me im doing the right thing, or tell me im wrong!

where to begin. well ive always loved the evo since it hit the shores. the thing is just sexy. i own a 2003 evo 8 and have loved it since the first day i test drove it, which was the same day i put the cash in the previous owners hand and drove it home. its been a great 3+ years with this car.

the evo x has been out since before i owned my evo and since they have came out i have absolutely hated the way they looked, and despised the fact they changed the engine. i think every evo 8/9 owner has that small part of them that if given the oppurtunity they would rather keep their evo or dilike the x's in some way than have a x. maybe thats just me . well those feelings are changing and fast.

the more i look at the evo x the more similarities i find in its styling. and i thought once the x's came out i would see millions around but the 8's and 9's would remain hidden because you just dont see them everyday. well i was wrong. i still havent seen many x's around and it makes them unique in the same sense as the 8's and 9's.

i have not yet been to the dealer to test drive an x, although me and a few friends tried when they first came out. long story short, i almost owned one by accident as the dumbass dealer didnt make sure the car was in neutral and hopped out. when he let off the clutch it jumped forward and the hood being up almost hit me in the face since i was standing in front of the car and at that exact moment i stepped to the side i guess i was lucky and unlucky at the same time.

2012 is fast approaching and i have what i think is a good trade in my 2003 WW evolution 8. so convince me to come to the "darkside" and make the swap into the x. tell me what you like about the car. i would really hope some previous 8 and 9 enthusiast who made the switch chime in. and tell me about the new 4b11. does it respond to modifications like the 4g63 did? if you are one who went from an 8 or 9 to an x tell me about the things you like more, things you dont like, things you miss, and if you regret doing it or never looked back. CONVINCE ME IM DOING THE RIGHT THING OR TELL ME IM WRONG!

Man, you should have test driven an Evo X back when that dealer was ****ting its pants about ****ing up your car.

First and foremost, you need to drive one.

and i do plan on test driving one in the near, very near future. i would preferably like to buy one brand spanking new if i decide to trade my 8 in. ive never owned a brand new car and couldnt see any other brand new car to own. i mean a gt-r would be nice and i would own one before a x but lets get real i dont have that kinda change laying around

I love my X. It is everything that I need in a car. It's my DD.

The X responds better to mods than the VIII/IX's, I would say. You will see bigger gains, numbers wise, but the car is heavier so it's gonna take a little bit more to be the same. The X handles better, but the previous gens just have that special "raw" feeling to them. I've had a VIII, own a X, and I'm very happy with the car. It just depends what you want. The X is a little more refined, but has alot of the same excitement/fun things that we all loved about the VIII/IX's.

I had a WW IX MR and now sport a WW X. My initial impression of the X was I hated the seats, lack of MOMO steering wheel, the new engine and the interior.

Believe me, once you get in it, make that first shift into 1st gear and take off, all that crap will never matter to you again. I'm super glad I traded up; I love my X.

Before I purchased my Evo X I test drove both a IX MR and the X. Needless to say, I ended up with the X. Felt much more sturdy and comfortable compared to the IX, that was important to me since it was going to be a daily driver. The IX MR was a bit faster out the box, but it wasn't enough for me. I knew I made the right choice. Even more so now with some upgrades I've done. I also fell in love with the overall look of the X. Personally I think it looks just plain mean. Both are great cars. Test drive the X then you decide. If you want my opinion it's the X hands down.

If your VIII is payed off and you can afford to buy an X w/o trading in then I say do it!

The 8/9's vs the X stock for stock are faster in a straight line. The X is overall more refined with more safety features and faster cornering speeds. In my opinion if you're going to be driving either in the city get the X. The real question should be either getting manual or the SST.

Ii would have to say being a true car enthusiast I would def be looking into a manual. I just don't think I like the fact of having an x but it being automatic with paddle shifters I think it would feel like it was lacking something and not give you the real feeling of being in "total" control.

Another question for those that havve owned both is which is better to work on? By that I mean did you find it easyier to work on the 8 or 9 overall or the x. With the x under the hood it all looks pretty tight and like somethings would be difficult.

I drove by a dealership today and almost pulled in. I don't want to just go for it yet lol a couple things need to fall into place first and I make sure this wont be something I regret, so im not going to test drive one until I know for sure if I fall in love it wont just be an impulse buy and end up regretting it.

How about the warranties on them? What all modifications are allowed if any? What do you guys do to keep the warranty just return it to stock to have it serviced? Sorry if these are dumb questions I've never owned a brand new car before.

I own an Evo 10. I never drove an 8 or 9. Sometimes I wish I would have bought one before the 10 just for the fact that I always love them and wanted one for so long. The 10 is a great car in every way but I still kind of wish I had an older more raw 8 or 9.

I say if your car is paid off and runs good, keep it.

I have driven many 8/9 s and own the x. If you want a kinda fast daily driver i would go x . If you want you make a monster for less money go 8/9.
