Does anyone else hear a noise..

Just curious.. Does anyone else hear like two metal "click/pops" whenever they first start backing up? I usually park in the driveway, sometimes the street, and there is a small incline- nothing major. Almost every time my car has been sitting a little while and I start going in reverse, I hear a small metal sound.. kinda like a click..click..- its hard to explain.

It drives fine and you can't feel it. It only happens the first time you start to move. It's actually a pretty quiet noise, I'm just kinda **** about my car. Just wondering if it has something to do with the clutch, or the diff pins that everyone talks about, or just me being paranoid.. I have 33k miles on the stock clutch. It drives great, no slipping. I'm lowered on springs, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. That's about it as far as drivetrain mods go.. changed the fluids myself at around 27k miles but it was making the noise before that..

Edit: and pretty sure its not the pads sticking or anything..

Ok. Thanks. That's what I figured but just wanted to check. I can't really afford the diff pins to go out on me right now.

Glad its normal.

I thought I remembered seeing in a EvoX service video that the interesting thing about the evo is it has no reverse dedicated gear. It uses gears 1+3 to make the car actually go backward.

...Could be the sound of the syncho lining that craziness up

Never heard this, but since the Evo X makes so many noises I would assume it's normal. You can hard every little thing this car, haha. Makes me nervous.

Both my evo's have done this. I've always figured it was the brake pads shifting. There is some play there and when you go in reverse the pads load up on the opposite side of the caliper. That's my theory anyways. Regardless, it's just another "normal" noise the evo makes.

No. I know the sounds that you are talking about. This is different. And it only happens in reverse.

When I reverse out of my driveway I hear a "clank" noise that sounds like it's coming from up front, but it doesn't happen right away. I think it happens when I'm about to go from reverse into 1st gear, once I'm in the street. Doesn't happen when I reverse out of parking spots, only happens when I back out of my steep grade driveway.

My brake pads definitely shift and make noise when I first start backing up. If that's what you're hearing it's definitely normal.

Don't worry my Mr also makes these noises. Also i think it's a trait of these crazy transmissions.. as my dad's gtr makes all the same clunking noises as your going from park to reverse or reverse to 1st or first padel down in to neutral clicking/clunking with the trans is endless...

ps i wish we could paddle down to neutral with our trans

pss
my favorite noise is the wooosh as it starts building psi mmmmm then let of the gas shhhhhh woooooosh shhhhhh woooooosssoh shhhhh heheh i could do it all day while in 2nd or 3rd gear manual s-sport mode
