GSR heated mirrors?

I've heard somewhere that the GSR has the harness for the heated mirror element but obviously unused since only the MR comes with them with certain package.

I found on Mitsubishiparts.com the heated mirror elements by themselves for I believe 69.99 per side. Does anybody know if this is all I need to add heated mirrors to the car? I'm assuming the fuse is the same as the rearview defroster so they would start working immediately after plugging in?

Thanks,

Div

I'd be interested in doing some R&D on this as well. Can we get some links and part #'s to start?

I'd provide the actual part numbers but they aren't being provided when I add the items to a my cart on mitsubishiparts.net.

First either myself or someone else needs to pull their mirror assembly apart and make sure the harness is actually there!

You need the whole mirror assembly. The heated mirror element is only a replacement if you already have the rest of the mirror.

That being said, just buy the whole thing and bolt it in. Done.

The left heated mirror assembly is part number:
7632A095
the right heated mirror assembly is part number:
7632A096

~$180 a piece. I was hoping they'd be cheaper so I could add heated mirrors.

That's a little more than I wanted to spend but it still might be worth it. Does every year GSR have the harness already (I have an '08)?

Easy way to tell: Pull off the tweeter and look at the mirror plug. If the vehicle side has an extra wire, then your answer is yes.

My MR doesn't have the harness. I would have to get it for both doors and dash... plus the relay and switch. Unless it runs off the defrost. Again the wiring diagran would show this.

Ya, would you need to add a switch in the cabin? Or maybe come on with the rear defrost?

Hopefully someone with heated mirrors cane chime in. I would be interested as well.

I'll be pulling some stuff apart to see if we have the wire/harness dangling in the mirror housing.. I don't understand why we would need the entire new mirror housing to get heated mirrors.. Especially if the wires are there, you can just solder up a wire(s) needed and do a nice job getting them work on your own.

No - the heated mirrors automatically turn on when you hit the rear defroster button.
