I used Dr. Colorchip on my Octane Blue X. Its alright, from far away it does the job, but up close you can tell its touche up paint.

I used Dr Color Chip and it worked really well. I have since waxed the car and had no issues with the paint chips rubbing off. And yes from far away it looks good but once you get up close you can see that it is touch up paint but you really have to be looking for the chips.

I have used it on several small chips. While it isn't a perfect repair, it is tons better than a paint pen. You have to get real close to see any blemishes. Totally worth the money IMO.

I used it on a previous black car (Infiniti G37 coupe) and it turned out really nice. The black matched perfectly. I used it to cover up some small paint chips. It was relatively easy, but it does take a little bit of skill to get it to come out just right.

Way better results than a paint pen, no comparison really, you have to look pretty closely to find where the blemish was, compared to a paint pen where you can find the fixed blemish right away, and easy to use too.

i looked into various options on a previous car but found a better solution. i was leaning towards a dr color chip kit but $50 + shipping for something that applies thin didnt sound too appealing.

walked into an English Color. gave them my paint code. they mixed a 2oz bottle of PPG deltron 2000 in my color. $15. application method is ultimately what makes the difference but even then it's never going to look flawless. it does however protect the metal.

Great to know, how hard is it to apply?

me?

the 2oz container came with a brush in the lid. it is about the same quality as any touch up bottle. it easy to apply but it goes down somewhat thick since it is a urethane paint that is not reduced. the advantage is it fills the chip.

the complaint about the dr paint chip kit that i have seen on other forums and youtube is that their method to fill the chip is that it goes on thin and using your finger to smudge it nearly removes it all.

you could do yourself a favor by using a better brush. i have a painter buddy that recommends using a pinstriper brush. never tried that method.

I have used dr color chip before and concur that it doesn't fill the chip. What works best for me is getting spray paint from www.paintscratch .com and spraying a little in the cap and dabbing it on with the end of a paper match. Let it dry and then repeat with layers of clear till the chip is a little proud. Then use 600 grit on the of a pencil eraser (super glue works best) and blend the edges and the polish it up to a nice shine. I spend a couple of afternoons a year doing it. Time consuming, but the chips are virtually invisible

On my red chili Saturn Sky Redline it was PERFECT. I fixed about 8 chips and can only spot 1 now.

On my Octane Blue Evo it was mediocre. I fixed 6 chips and from within 5 feet I can spot them.

We used it on my buddy's WRB 08 WRX and as posted above results were mediocre at best.

I used it on my Phantom black. It's good. It was small areas though.
