hi all,
after a shop did the installation for some gauges I found that the navi in my MR is not function properly. Vehicle position is all messed up and it looks like some sort of sensor or signal is missing.
the shop is far and before I contact them, I'd like to know if it is something I can do to check / fix the issue.
the gauge pod is on top of mmcs system and yes they did take the system out to run wiring...
anyone know what I should do/check please let me know, much appreciated.
thx

if someone has mmcs navi, please tell me how many satellite you see and 3D or 2D. thanks. :-(

sounds like they may have disconnected /moved the GPS sensor when they took it out to run wiring. i would disconnect battery, uninstall the whole nav head unit+GPS sensor (heyre attached anyway) and see if that helps. they could have just run the calibration wrong when they re-installed it, but if its really far away, and you're a bit mechanically inclined, it might be better for you to try it on your own?
i think the # of satellites change with location, so i'm not sure if that would be a good way to test the system.

if i remember correctly......the sensor/antenna for the gps is mounted above the mmcs unit in the dash.
if they were working above the mmcs , something is interfering with the sensor or a wire was severed.
the only way to determine that would be to pull the unit thenphysically inspect the sensor and its' connections.

To better understand what you will be doing there is a how to install navigation thread, read and study the pictures.

yup, pics would help, especially in deciding whether its something you wanna do yourself or not Originally Posted by beetle_orange

the gauge pod is installed right above mmcs unit. it's evo-r 3 gauge pod. could that be possibly blocking GPS signal? or mess up the sensor.Originally Posted by 07outty

thanks for the guide btw. from what I see and remember watching the guy do it, probably not missing the hardness. they may mess up the sensorOriginally Posted by kataklyzm

and:

do you guys think by moving the pod back or toward right should clear the gps sensor ??

if memory serves me right the gps antenna should be located on the right of the rightmost gauge, below it. pull the nav and see if its still there.

thanks. I'm moving the pod 1.5" toward front of the car. should be enough to clear that antenna I think. I need a few days to confirm this position is good and will post update pic.
after few days running with this, I believe it works. Although it's not perfect

conclusion is : it's not a good idea to have gauge pod on the dash if you have mmcs.
in my case, I plan to relocate the antenna to the front or under the gauge pod, well, whenever I have the time...
