We added track day insurance for $160 just in case, but the class she was in I don't think we will next time as it's more about fun driving.

Do you have any sort of trans cooler? Did you get any "Slow Down" warnings?

Enjoy having the "bug". Like some said, plan on getting racing pads, they'll run you $500 for a full set, give or take based on discounts and brand. I run Hawk DTC60's, some recommend other brands, but all should be rated for 1400*F or hotter. Also, get some stainless steel brake lines, and easy improvement to the brake pedal response and only $100. And be certain to keep your brake fluid flushed before each event. Once you get a Brown-bo caliper, you're proving that the fluid's getting "torched" -- which is good, fluid is cheap. I bought a pressure bleeder for $50 to help with that. (Some hardcore racers buy fancy rotors, but if you want, Centric blanks or even Wagner/Bosch make nice ones for $50-60 each, that's a wear item over 30,000 miles you'll discover.)

Oh, might want a second set of rims so you can get a set of dedicated track tires to save from your daily wear on something like ASR's. You can get good cost efficiency of DD'ing an Evo but tires and brakes wear pretty quickly and high-end ones don't do you a lot of good while you're obeying (generally?) traffic laws.

Awesome! I'd like to try mid-ohio next year if schedule permits.

I bet you could keep up in the Lexus IS. Especially if you stick to a beginner group. I also thought about the track day insurance, but the deductibles are really high (around 5k?). You'd have to do some major damage to make it worth the insurance.

I actually have a GSR, just MR wheels. I score a set of them off a guy a couple years back and use them as my summers. The 5-speed held up just fine.

Yes! Honestly, it's a little pricey, but it's so much fun. For me, I was thinking I'd have to replace my tires next year anyway, so I figured why not have them go out in style.

Esurance is still honoring auto policies at HPDE under the rule of no timings and no competition, either in the event or as a goal of the event in terms of practice for a competition.

I'll say from experience that an HPDE weekend is cheaper than a 91mph speeding ticket
