It's a flash for cold weather regions. My understanding is that it doesn't immediately prime the pump until after everything has had a chance to warm up a little. It makes it easier on the motor and pump.

Are you guys talking about this reflash?
Service Campaign SC-09-002 (Google Docs LINK)

For '08 & '10 Evolution X (and Ralliarts) made before 8/28/2009
This reprogramming procedure will modify the All-Wheel-Control (AWC) ECU software to accurately match the operations check of the AYC/ACD motor with current ambient conditions. Extremely cold weather causes increased excessive load on the motor, which could result in damage to the motor. This bulletin describes procedures to reprogram the AWC ECU with new software parameters to prevent this condition.

After reading the SC linked above, it states "Warranty Coverage: Basic coverage 3 years / 36,000 miles".

Not sure if that's a warranty on the reflash itself (that would seem odd), or what part of your warranty covers the reflash. Anyway, if you're still within your 3-year bumper-to-bumper, just print out the SC and take it to the dealership.

^That's great info, thanks! I think there is a newer relfash that came out in March of this year though. The number is SC-11-002. I've not been able to locate the actual document to compare the differences. I'll definitely print this out and take it on when I go. Thanks again.

SC-11-002 is the same as and replaces SC-09-002. Slightly different program, but the upshot is the same: delay the activation of the AYC pump until the rear diff has a chance to warm up. If you search the Mitsu database, SC-09-002 isn't listed any more.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Mitsu database

So is SC-11-002 100% identical to SC-09-002, covering cars made prior to 8/28/09.. or are there newer cars now being covered??

I can't get the text, either, so I can't answer your question. All I've been able to find is that it is an alternative program for delaying the start of the AYC pump. Sorry.

i did not pay for my reflash and i have 77xxx miles. i am in central-north jersey and i pretty much took the car in and said my pump is broke and i didn tget the reflash and they did it for me. im way over warranty but they did reflash for free so not sure.

As to the pump i jsut got a new one mine was broken and reflash did nothing but reflash is a must for colder weather it lets the pump warm up before it burns out
