What are all you Evo drivers driving this winter?
[edit] Anyways to get back on topic I bought the Evo so I could drive it in the winter, the AWD was made for such conditions. This winter has been strangely mild though, cold but little snow which is fine because that means less salt on the roads....

Guys... please keep it on topic before we have to toss out any warnings or infractions.
In regards to that topic: I drive an Evo! It is fun to laugh at other cars getting stuck while you plow throw the snow.
...and I wish more municipalities used beet juice. More annoying to wipe off a tarry sap, but it is easier on the paint / metal and also better for the environment.

Very interesting; never heard of beet juice used as ice control before, so I looked it up. CaCl2 is ~$.70/gallon, beet juice is ~$1.70/gallon and salt is ~$60/ton (!). Obviously, this doesn't account for rates of dispersion and effectiveness. Personally, I'd be more than willing to pay a higher tax rate and get rid of the salt, but there may be more to this. For example, there's a salt mountain located about a mile from my home. It sits in the back of the town maintenance facility. Trucks pull up, fill their bays and distribute the crap over every imaginable slice of asphalt. No matter how the weather turns out, no matter if Spring comes early, they salt until the mountain is gone. It seems to be an institutionalized action that involves everything else that comes along with the concept. Introducing alternatives amounts to fighting the system on a grassroots level. Hard to win, unfortunately.

Yea they really only see salt in parking lots near me, depending on county you'll se salt.
They use a spray on the highways now which I'd guess is salt based.
But on a lot of town road you see cinders a lot. Poconos always use cinder on roads for anti skid

You make a good point here. I don't know if it's about money or politics, but I'm sure some games are involved. I do know that around the Pittsburgh area, as soon as the first snow flake flies, if the isn't already a good layer of salt on the road, someone is complaining. They may use too much salt from my point of view, but not enough to please everyone.

I drive the evo and ride my motorcycle all year round.
