go with the 4", thats what i did since i got a fp red being made. I think ets showed a 7hp increase between the two ic's.

What if I'm running a BBK Full? It's about the same size as a stocker (smaller than the FP red). I don't wanna reduce response. Should I go with a 3" or 3.5"?

I went with the 3.5" ETS FMIC and I'm more than happy with it

Do a 3.8" Garrett core, or the 4" ETS core. Your Evo is a IX not a X. But, you already know this. LOL JK.

Seriously, the 3.8 Garrett core available in the CBRD IC, and BR "Race" IC's is the way to go on VIII's and IX's. This is hands down the most efficient core available in an off the shelf IC for the VIII's and IX's.

You can get the Garrett 3.8" core in an IC from ETS as well on special order. Talk to Michael at ETS. You may want to talk to Chad to find out how his Garrett cored IC works in unison with the CBRD BBK as well.

there is a general misunderstanding with intercoolers/sizing/efficiency-

on a small turbo at high boost (say over 25 psi) you will create ALOT of heat--- and NEED a big heat sink to remove it---

we've tested all kinds of intercoolers, bar plate, tube fin, vertical, horizontal... etc...

and the big mass thick cores work well (unless you have an ambient air issue for cooling- as we found on some evo X's)...

just an FYI-

This man is correct. This is the exact reason we recommend the larger intercoolers for the guys pushing the stock turbochargers or stock frame turbochargers to the limits. The 4.0" allows for more air flow and greater cooling with lower intake air temps. It's a win/win. This is also why you see some of the guys with 35r turbochargers running 3.5" intercooler w/o any problems and lower intake air temps. It has to do with the turbo being in it's efficiency range which will result in lower IAT.

Thansk!
