Intercooler options for road racing

Hey guys, just looking for some opinions from all you track rats. I am looking to upgrade my stock intercooler. At my last HPDE event at Atlanta Motorsports Park i was starting to get heatsoak towards the end of the 20 minute sessions, causing some high rpm knock. This was my first time out on the new s2 cams and new tune from tscomptune. I believe my power levels are just overwhelming the stocker.

I am looking at the ETS 3", ETS 3.5" and the AMS 3.5" intercoolers. I am sure that most would recommend the 3.5" intercooler for some head room, but I pretty much plan to stay close to current power levels on 93 oct, which is around 380whp. So I guess I am just wondering if the 3" intercooler would meet my needs. Not really looking to set any stock turbo hp records, just want to be able to keep my intake temps in check on the road course.

Thanks

I ran an ETS 3 inch and a CBRD 3.8 inch in my car over the last 4 years. Both have been really good. Other people I know the the ETS also have no complaints.

Our 3.5" will do the job in most cases. If you have any questions in regards to our product let me know. You can see more here.

How about used ARC?
Lightweight
Flows air through to radiator better than most which is crucial
And is seemingly really efficient and cooling pressurized air.

It's capacity is said to be optimal for up to about 500whp turbos, so any stock frame.

What is the experience by owners/users competitors like EVOlutionary, of the ARC, and/or second hand experience by those who have followed those using them?
Not speculation, data driven experience, feedback.

I am thinking of it, so chiming in the proposal.

That is 315whp on MD dyno?

I think that ETS, Buschur, AMS, there is little between. They are all excellent products.

But I am curious if a lightweight fin and tube efficient design (CBRD offers also intercooler for Time Attack type fin and tube lightweight...) gives the best of all worlds, except for $$$.
And actually wonder why CBRD does not list a fin&tube IC on their website when they make/made them.

That is maybe something to look into.

CBRD uses a Garrett core for their intercoolers. If there is another type that they have designed, I have not seen or heard anything about it. The Garrett cores are very heavy compared to ETS cores.

Chad, and Geoff of Full Race, advises in conversation that they made/used Fin and Tube for personal preference, likely market reality dictates Garrett cores.

XS Power, Eric Hsu, used to supply them.
HKS intercooler is fin and tube.

I think that most technical first choices dictate fin and tube but economic choices prevail.

Have you weighted ETS IC: 3.5"?

I have on one Evo ARC wide, and on another original AMS 3.5" with welded side tanks- lighter than current cast tank.

Am thinking since time is on our side to get HKS IC when one pops out used.
It's sort of perfect solution for us on stock frame road racing types, for low weight, high quality, and great cooling capacity for stock frame power levels

Any name-brand intercooler will do the trick. I'd be sure to get one that you don't have to hack up the bumper or any supports to install.

That's why I went with the AMS back when I had to make the decision.
