grindin noise when backing up??

whenever i am backing out of my garage or parking space or doing a 3-point turn etc (basically when the steering rack is at full tilt) ... there is a heavy grinding sound coming from the the front wheels.

i have stock wheels, stock suspension, and stock brakes.

basically there are two things that i think it *may* be, and if it is one of the two, is it normal or something i should have checked out.

1.) tire rubbing on the wheel well? could be.. but the noise sounds more like metal on metal...

2.) is somehow the brake lines crimping up therefore engaging the calipers on the rotor? or is it the pad just not used to going backwards on the rotor and is scraping any stuff off?

any help is cool; thanks

Wheel well may sound logical. The wheels when fully turned could be rubbing on the airvents in the fender liner.
But if that is case then it should be doing that when going forward as well in my opinion........may not b the wheel well.

Usually this.

Mine does it quite often when backing out of the driveway and onto the road.. after that, the grinding pretty much goes away for the rest of the day.
